"May, want to go to prison? Could be Taco Tuesday."
Phil Coulson to Melinda May[src]

South Ridge Penitentiary is a prison in Los Angeles, California, where Eli Morrow was imprisoned.

History

Los Angeles Prison

South Ridge Penitentiary was a prison which hosted several criminals serving jail sentences. Santino Noguera, a member of the Fifth Street Locos, was sent there.[1] Eli Morrow was also sent to the prison after assaulting Joseph Bauer and there he met Chen, a member of the Chinatown Crew.[2]

Phil Coulson visited Morrow in order to get answers about Lucy Bauer, but to no avail. He later sent Morrow's nephew Robbie Reyes to talk to his uncle while S.H.I.E.L.D. listened to the conversation, learning about the Darkhold.[3]

Riot

Before S.H.I.E.L.D. could take Eli Morrow out of South Ridge Penitentiary for their investigation, Lucy Bauer and her team of ghosts infiltrated the prison and infected the staff, rendering them crazy. While they were looking for Morrow, Leo Fitz was forced to unlock all the doors, including the cells', releasing the prisoners, which triggered a riot after which Morrow was kidnapped by Bauer while the S.H.I.E.L.D. team barely made it out. The riot subsided after Ghost Rider murdered Santino Noguera[1]
