Soul Eaters (Mandarin: 噬魂者) are a hostile race of winged creatures that feed on other creatures' souls.
History[]
Thousands of years ago, the people of Ta Lo sealed the Soul Eaters and their leader, the Dweller-in-Darkness, away behind the Dark Gate. Over the years, many have tried to open it, only to fail. They are said to be attracted there by a mysterious voice, promising them whatever they want.
Centuries later, Xu Wenwu, lured by the supposed voice of his deceased wife Ying Li, managed to overpower the warriors of Ta Lo with his army and finally open the gates, inadvertently liberating the Dweller-in-Darkness and the Soul Eaters. After realizing they wouldn't be able to fight against the hostile creatures, the warriors of Ta Lo and the Ten Rings had to work together to battle them using weaponry made of Dragon Scales. After Shang-Chi awakened the Great Protector, they managed to kill the remaining Soul Eaters and the Dweller-in-Darkness.[1]
Characteristic Traits[]
Soul Eaters are medium-sized creatures that can use their bat-like leathery wings to fly and their octopus-like tentacles to snare and harvest the souls of their enemies.
Soul Eaters are known to be ruthless and aggressive. Their main objective is to suck the soul out of other creatures, leaving them as empty corpses. They can store the souls for themselves, or they can bring them to the Dweller-in-Darkness to make it stronger.
Soul Eaters are also impervious to almost any attack and material, being only vulnerable to the Great Protector, which is the reason why the people of Ta Lo used the dragon's scales to make their weaponry and armor. Shishi are also capable of harming and killing Soul Eaters with their teeth and claws.
