Personality[]

Burch is a free market advocate for its benefit, despite it being a concept not widely applied in the United States of the time. His greed and lack of business scruples has led him to trade in the perfect slaves without caring about the goals of both Hoods.

He is also quite sadistic, as he enjoys killing even in cold blood. This is demonstrated when he indiscriminately killed the Bishop family, and tried to kill the last Bishop Kate with his own mother's revolver instead of trading with her, when he had already done so before.
