Solomon Islands is a sovereign country consisting of a large number of islands in Oceania.

In 1942 and 1943, the island of Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands was the location of bitter fighting between Japanese and Allied troops. Though the Allies were ultimately victorious, the lives of many soldiers were lost in the fight, including Patrick O'Brien, the brother of Colleen O'Brien.[1]
