Biography
Hector Ayala's Trial
- "Soledad, whatever is going on between you and Hector, I'm really hoping you can set it aside. He needs you."
"He needs me, or he needs me to show up in court?" - ―Kirsten McDuffie and Soledad Ayala[src]
Soledad Ayala lived in Washington Heights with her husband Hector, her sister-in-law Awilda Ayala-Del Toro, and their niece Angela Del Toro. They wanted to move out of their house, so Hector managed to save enough money for a studio apartment in South Bronx,[2] however, he got arrested for allegedly causing the death of Kel Shanahan. Ayala was approached by Kirsten McDuffie and Cherry who asked her to attend Hector's trial to support him.

Ayala asks if Hector Ayala had a chance in court
Ayala asked them to honestly tell her if her husband actually had a chance, and Cherry explained that since the deceased was a NYPD officer, the justice system would stop at nothing to punish someone. However, he also assured Ayala that Murdock & McDuffie were the best lawyers he knew, asking if he could go get Hector's suit for the trial. McDuffie asked Ayala to set aside whatever issues she had with her husband to support him, but Ayala questioned if Hector really needed her, or just needed her at the trial.

Ayala tells Kirsten McDuffie about her family issues
McDuffie explained that feelings were just as important as facts, and that Ayala's presence or absence could potentially affect the jury's verdict. In response, Ayala asked if McDuffie was married, saying that when she and Hector first got together, everything felt great for her. However, she went on to say that after that, things started to change in worst ways and now Hector was no longer the man she married. While Ayala and McDuffie talked, Cherry looked around the bedroom and found the White Tiger Suit, discovering the truth about Hector's vigilante career.[1]

Ayala celebrates Hector's victory in court
Ayala eventually agreed and attended the trial with Del Toro, witnessing McDuffie and Matt Murdock defending Hector against Benjamin Hochberg. During the trial, Murdock suddenly outed Hector as White Tiger, using the records of his heroics to turn the jury's opinion in their favor. As a result, the jury deemed Hector not guilty on all counts, so he was a free man. However, the celebration did not last long as not too long after, Hector was ambushed on the street and killed by an unknown gunman, leaving Ayala a widow.[2]
Looking after Angela Del Toro
- "It's Angela. She still hasn't come home. That's not like her. Has she been in touch with you? She told me she was going to see you, Matt. I'm worried. I'm so worried. She's never done this before. I didn't know who else to call. She's never..."
"It's okay. Soledad, it's okay. Just stay where you are." - ―Soledad Ayala and Matt Murdock[src]
With Hector Ayala dead, Ayala was left alone to look after Angela Del Toro, who was devastated by her uncle's death and could not leave it be. One night, Ayala realized that Del Toro did not return home, which was not like her, so she called Matt Murdock and told him about it. Ayala knew that Del Toro was talking to Murdock a lot since Hector was killed, expressing her concern that Del Toro never took this long to return home. Murdock assured her that everything was okay and asked Ayala to stay where she was, while he would look for Del Toro.[3]

Ayala and Matt Murdock check on Angela Del Toro
Later, an injured Del Toro was admmited to New York-Presbyterian Hospital, as she followed Hector's lead and investigated Muse, but almost fell victim to him. Ayala and Murdock came to visit Del Toro at her hospital room, and Del Toro told that Hector's lead was correct and that she was rescued by none other than Daredevil. Murdock asked Del Toro about any details she picked up, and she reluctantly replied that Muse's lair was full of sketches of faces that were very important to him.[4]

When Hector was accused of murdering a police officer, she believed he was innocent but intended to divorce him, as he had promised her that he would stop acting as a vigilante. She was convinced by Matt Murdock to delay the divorce until after Hector's trial to avoid making Hector seem more guilty. However, during the trial, she succumbed to pressure and left after being questioned about her marriage, going on on to blame herself for Hector's eventual guilty verdict and death.
