Snow Gives Way is the first episode of the first season of the television series Iron Fist.
Synopsis[]
After being declared dead 15 years earlier, Danny Rand returns to New York City. But his welcome is a far cry from what he'd hoped.
Plot[]
Being considered dead for fifteen years, Danny Rand returns to New York City and tries to reconcile with his friends and family. He visits the Rand Enterprises Building, a building owned by his father, where he meets with his former best friends and current leaders of Rand Enterprises, Ward and Joy Meachum. The Meachums do not believe that Rand is the person he claimed to be and told him that their father, Harold Meachum, has been dead for twelve years after succumbing to cancer. Ward demands Rand to leave the building and never come back.
Not willing to give up, Rand breaks into his old house which is now owned by the Meachums. There, he remembers a moment from his life, when he and the Meachum siblings were friends and played together, although Ward used to bully him. After a brief encounter with Toro, Rand leaves the house before Joy returns there. With no place to go, Rand spends the night at Central Park together with Big Al.
The next day, Rand tries to approach Joy outside of the house and convince her that he is Danny Rand, but she does not trust him, especially after finding out that he had break into her house. Rand realizes that Joy was scared, so he leaves her but as a car was about to hit him, he flips into the air to avoid it, to Joy's shock. While meditating at the park, Rand meets Colleen Wing who was putting up posters for Martial Arts classes. Rand asks her if she has any job for him, since he had no place to stay, but Wing refuses.
Joy shares her experience and doubts about Rand with Ward, who reminds her that he is either a lunatic or a fake who is trying to sabotage the company and claim the ruling 51% shares of the company as the Rand family heir.
Later that night, Rand confronts Ward at a parking lot inside his car, demanding to know what happened in the past. Ward tells him that the plane with the Rand family had crashed over the Himalayas and neither the place nor bodies were ever found. Ward dismisses Rand's claims, since he had no way to prove his identity and reaches for the gun, but Rand disarms him. Rand then tells Ward stories about his bullying years ago, which makes Ward panic but he still refuses to believe Rand.
Afterwards, Rand goes to the Chikara Dojo run by Wing and explains her that he is skilled, trained at K'un-Lun and requests an opportunity to present them in a duel. Wing dismisses him again, and he leaves only to be confronted by a group of armed men trying to kill him. In a fight and run chase, Rand defeats the attackers and realizes that the attacker is Shannon, Head of Security of Rand Enterprises, who claims to have been sent by Ward. Contemplating jumping in to help, Wing sees the entire fight.
Upon learning of Shannon's failure, Rand calls for a meeting and goes to a secretly locked place where still alive Harold is operating the company from the shadows. Harold warns that the situation with Rand needs to be taken care of because if he is the true Danny Rand, it would bring many complicated questions and situations for them. Ward keeps silent about the fact that he met Rand and realized he wasn't a fake. Kyle is Harold's assistant who is said to be loyal and knows most of their operations.
Rand comes back to the park to call it a night but finds Big Al overdosed and prays for his soul.
The next day, Rand sneaks into Rand Enterprises and waits in Joy's office for her to come. Upon arriving, she thinks of giving Rand a chance and asks him to tell his version and offers him a drink. While remembering his story, Rand realizes that the drink was drugged and falls unconscious. Seeing the flashbacks of his family and the plane crash, as well as Chodak and Tashi, Rand regains his consciousness and finds himself being tied down in a hospital bed and after being injected with anesthesia, he falls asleep again.
