The Snap was an event in which Thanos used the Infinity Stones kill half of all life in the universe.

Background

Acquiring the Stones

In order to bring about the Snap, Thanos traveled across the universe to acquire all six Infinity Stones. Successfully doing so, he placed them in the Infinity Gauntlet.

Snap

Upon acquiring all of the stones, Thanos returned to Sanctuary. With his daughters Gamora and Nebula at his side, he snapped his fingers and destroyed 50% of all life in the universe.

Aftermath

Thanos and his adoptive daughters, Gamora and Nebula, all survived the Snap.
