The device, powered by Piezoelectric crystals, is capable of laying a grid across an entire planet's atmosphere to detect Shrike across its surface, even if they are currently possessing someone. Furthermore, it is also capable of detecting people who can be labeled as temporal anomalies due to being displaced by time travel, as Sarge's Squad detected and targeted Deke Shaw.
