History

This section needs a rewrite

An unknown time ago, the Shrike have been infecting natives of other worlds, taking their hosts for an as yet unknown reason to Ley Lines- natural matices of planetary energy. Doing so would lead to a catastrophic outcome on the planet the Shrike current reside on. According to Sarge, they serve their creator Pachakutiq, who is coming to destroy Earth.

The Shrike bursts out in the form of crystals

The Shrike are a race of parasitic avian creatures that were created by a mysterious entity. They possess physical characteristics of birds and bats in the form of beak-like mouthparts and leathery wings. When entering a host, thin tendrils spread out from the Shrike to attach to the host's body.

When inside a host, the Shrike attach themselves to the host's nervous system. Their blood, which acts as an accelerant, causes the victim's body temperature to drasticaly rise to the point of burning. Once the host dies, the Shrike can fully control their bodies, causing them to act as living bombs. When threatened, Shrikes can produce a massive and progressively growing crystal-like substance, which is strong enough to tear apart their hosts from the inside.

Hosts parasitized by the Shrike are compelled by instinct to converge at a planet's Ley Lines, upon mass detonation, would result in the planet's destruction. Once destroyed, the Shrike move to new planets to repeat the cycle of destruction.

The Shrike have so far been shown to only be killable via specialized knives used by Sarge and his crew.
