- "Izel is headed to some ancient temple where she can unlock a doorway to a realm of unspeakable evil."
- ―Piper to Melinda May[src]
The Search for the Temple of the Forgotten was a successful attempt by Izel to find the Temple of the Forgotten with help from Marcus Benson.
Background[]
- "We don't know anything about these temples. The only one that would know is Benson."
"Well, that's a name I haven't heard before. Let's give this Benson a call. I'd like to meet him." - ―Yo-Yo Rodriguez and Izel[src]
Millennia ago, the Di'Allas were created in another realm. The realm held dominions over three essential aspects of existence: space, time and creation, with one Di'Alla for each aspect. If used, they could allow you to travel through time and space, or create portals between dimensions.[3] From the same stone used to create the Di'Allas, the Temple of the Forgotten was built in Yucatán, Mexico by the Mayans. The temple was a replica of the one inside Izel's Realm, later known as the Fear Dimension, this temple was also erected on the convergence point of the ley lines allowing Izel to use the Di'Allas to open a portal to her realm.[4]
Search[]
Mackenzie and Rodriguez being held hostage by Izel
- "Let's find this temple, shall we? You were giving such an informative presentation before we got interrupted. Care to continue? I just want the coordinates."
- ―Izel to Marcus Benson[src]
In 2019, when Izel finally arrived to Earth, and successfully located the Di'Allas, she made her moves to locate the temple where the Di'Allas were to be used. Izel, who had entered into conflict with Alphonso Mackenzie's S.H.I.E.L.D., learned that Marcus Benson, a professor who had been tasked by Mackenzie to find the temple in the aftermath of the Shrike Outbreak on Earth, identified three possible locations for the Temple of the Forgotten. Taking Mackenzie and Yo-Yo Rodriguez as hostages, Izel forced them to take her to Benson. She later threatened Benson with reliving his husband's death and obliged him to reveal his findings to her. Once she got the coordinates, Benson was put out Izel's reach by Mackenzie and Rodriguez, but Izel did not care as she had already obtained what she needed from Benson. She then took Zephyr One to the Temple while Benson gave its location to S.H.I.E.L.D.[4]
Aftermath[]
Izel opens the Gravity Containment Device, where the Di'Allas' energies are kept
Benson successfully gave S.H.I.E.L.D. the Temple's location. Quake, Sarge and Melinda May were sent to the temple in order to rescue Mackenzie and Rodriguez, and kill Izel. Meanwhile, inside the temple, Izel tried to find a way to restore the physical form of the Di'Allas,[4] since their energies were stored in the Gravity Containment Device after their destruction the year before.[5][6] Looking through the fears of Mackenzie and Rodriguez, who knew who could accomplish such task, Izel used the Di'Allas to make a recreation of Flint, an Inhuman from a distant future whose geokinesis powers could be used to restore the Di'Allas.[4] Izel possessed Flint and used his powers to rebuild them. In the meantime, S.H.I.E.L.D. prepared an assault on the Temple which ended up in Izel and Pachakutiq's defeat.[7][8]
