- "Giyera uploaded his data to a set of servers in Schoonebeek. It's on the Dutch-German border. It's an abandoned oil field."
"So HYDRA's in the oil business now? It's like they're not even trying to avoid the bad-guy clichés." - ―Leo Fitz and Phil Coulson[src]
Schoonebeek Oil Field is an oil field in Schoonebeek, Netherlands used as a cover for secret HYDRA base.
History[]
In Hiding[]
Gideon Malick sheltered Hive at his secret base at the Schoonebeek Oil Field for three months as the Inhuman struggled to recover his strength as his host's body decayed.[1]
Showing Modern-Day Earth[]
As he ate raw meat to recover his strength, Hive immersed himself in the recent history of modern-day mankind. He watched numerous documentaries to learn about the technological advance of mankind. As he watched simultaneously playing videos of several 20th Century wars, Hive told R. Giyera that humans had not changed at all, they were still the same as in his time, if slightly more technologically advanced.[1]
Infecting Inhumans[]
Hive was aware that he could not build his army and achieve his plans if he remained in a weakened state. Needing someone fully loyal to him, Hive recovered sufficient strength to enlist his first believer: R. Giyera, who was infected by Hive's parasite, bringing him under the ancient Inhuman's control.[1] Later, Lucio was also taken to Schoonebeek Oil Field following his capture and Hive swayed him as well.[2]
Restoring Hive's Body[]
Noticing that Hive's host body was not healing, Gideon Malick suggested that perhaps the time had come for Hive to consider a new host body. Hive informed Malick that his host body had to be dead and it could not be the body of another Inhuman. Malick offered to find a suitable host but Hive rejected the offer stating that Grant Ward's body would serve its needs.
When Malick left to attended a summit in Taiwan, Hive ordered R. Giyera, now loyal to him and not Malick, to obtain for him five healthy and alive Humans. Later, Giyera presented the five humans, paralyzed by Lucio to Hive and informed him that they were the healthiest humans he could find. Hive was pleased with Giyera's work and thanked him, stating that he had great plans for the five humans. Once alone with the five humans, Hive unleashed its parasites which proceeded to consume the five kidnapped people while they were still alive. Once the process was over, all that was left of the five humans were their skeletons in a slimy substance. Using the flesh and bodily fluids of the five humans, Hive was able to heal and restore Grant Ward's body back to its former strength.[2]
Discussing True Power[]
Having recovered from his weak condition, Hive met with Gideon Malick and asked why he had brought him back from Maveth. Malick explained that he thought Hive could reward him with power, which Hive agreed to. As Charles Hinton was brought to them following his kidnapping, Hive decided to leave the Oil Field to begin gathering this power. Hive and Giyera later returned after the Battle at the Transia Corporation Building and Hive ordered Giyera to lead a Raid of the GT Agrochemical Facility.[3]
Hijacking and Retaking of Zephyr One[]
While being detained in the Zephyr One's Containment Module, R. Giyera managed to break free and took control of the plane which he flied to the Schoonebeek Oil Field. The S.H.I.E.L.D. agents retreated in a storage room of the plane, awaiting for backup. As a response, Daisy Johnson gathered the Secret Warriors and led them to the HYDRA base. There, Lincoln Campbell successfully captured Gideon Malick while Johnson reached the oil field's command room and released the Zephyr One. However, she was found by Hive, who infected her before ordering her to return her team to the Playground, acting as Hive's double agent. Once the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents were rescued and Malick locked in the plane, the Zephyr One took off. While Giyera lamented over the fact that they had achieved nothing, Hive replied that the attack had enabled them to infiltrate S.H.I.E.L.D.[4]
