Bruce Banner and Samuel Sterns[src]

Doctor Samuel Sterns is a scientist employed at Empire State University who helped Bruce Banner to cure his condition as Hulk.

Biography[]

Mr. Blue[]

Under the alias Mr. Blue, Empire State University scientist Samuel Sterns was contacted by Bruce Banner, who asked for help curing his Gamma Radiation exposure that turned him into a large monster. Sterns wrote the formula for a potential cure and sent it to Banner. Banner later contacted Sterns and said that the cure did not work. Sterns wrote back, suggesting a higher concentration, but Banner said that his supply was too limited to try that. Sterns told Banner that his own supply was not limited and asked for a blood sample.

Banner sent Sterns the blood sample and Sterns experimented with it, although he also recreated it and made other samples. He figured out a successful cure and contacted Banner, telling him about the success. However, he told Banner that he needed more information about Banner's initial exposure to gamma radiation. Some time later, Banner sent Sterns the information.[1]

Curing Hulk[]

Sterns was found by Bruce Banner and Betty Ross in his laboratory at Empire State University. Sterns told them that he successfully created an antidote, but that Banner would have to transform himself into Hulk in order to test it. Banner immediately transformed himself, and Sterns immediately injected Hulk with the serum, successfully curing Banner and causing him to transform back into Banner. However, Emil Blonsky then came in and shot Banner with a tranquilizer dart. Blonsky grabbed Sterns' shirt and demanded that he be given what Banner received. Scared, Sterns injected Banner's blood into Blonsky, turning him into a monster that became known as Abomination.[1]

Abilities[]

  • Master Scientist: Sterns was able to create a cure for a man he had never met simply using his blood samples. The cure successfully prevented Hulk from taking over Bruce Banner's body. He was also, even under duress, able to safely inject Emil Blonsky with Banner's blood in a way that turned him into a monster like Hulk, which Blonsky wanted.
