"That's what they sell you day in and day out, isn't it? That one thing is equal worth to another. That burger is a dollar. Love costs your body. And that house? Just your soul. Piece by piece by piece. But every action has its own reaction, as much as we'd like to avoid it. Isn't that right, Miss Bowen?"
―Samedi to Tandy Bowen[src]

Baron Samedi is the Loa of the dead and an entity residing in the Dark Dimension.

Biography[]

Tyrone Johnson's Trap[]

"Tell you what: you play his game. And if you can convince him to leave, I'll let you both go. But don't forget. You in Samedi's house. And the house always wins."
―Samedi to Tandy Bowen[src]

As a loa, Samedi resided in the Dark Dimension and could notably be found at Fun Arcade Games, an arcade house in which he was visited by Tyrone Johnson. Samedi allowed Johnson to stay in Fun Arcade Games, playing the Duel to D'Spayre arcade game and refusing to return into the real world as he felt that there was nothing good for him there.

Samedi eventually got a second visitor to his store: Tandy Bowen, who had come to bring back her friend. Samedi jokingly mentioned that it would not be as straightforward as Bowen, whose name he already knew, seemed to think. Nevertheless, he decided to give Bowen a chance to complete her mission and allowed her to play Duel to D'Spayre with Johnson, promising to let them both go should Bowen succeed to convince Johnson to leave. As it turned out, Bowen was unable to complete the game due to facing D'Spayre in its final stage.

Samedi was therefore confronted by Bowen about the quality of the game, but Samedi instead simply instructed her to direct her criticism at the player who had chosen such a game. He then listened to their argument as Bowen begged Johnson to return home, and insisted to know Johnson's answer. However, during the time that Johnson hesitated, Samedi was made aware that Evita Fusilier had married him in exchange for Johnson's life. As a result, Samedi cast out both Bowen and Johnson from the Dark Dimension to prepare to meet his bride.[1]
