History[]
Mayhem's Investigation[]
- "I used to walk past here all the time from Fuchs's place and think, if I ever got in trouble, this is where I'd hide."
"Well, let's find out if you did." - ―Brigid O'Reilly and Tandy Bowen[src]
In an attempt to have a place from where to operate, Mayhem booked an apartment at the SRO Hotel from Dale, who she quickly intimidated to end his advances. Over the weeks following her birth, Mayhem investigated on several cases of missing people, eventually covering the walls of her apartment with maps, pictures, flyers and newspaper clips to find out who was responsible for the kidnappings. She also stored a large number of weapons in her room.
Once she discovered her doppelganger's existence, Brigid O'Reilly figured out that Mayhem would have chose to live in the SRO Hotel. She went to the hotel with Cloak and Dagger during a time when Mayhem was not here, and posed as Mayhem to reclaim her key from Dale. The three then explored Mayhem's room to unfold the details of her investigation. Working from Dagger's assumption that O'Reilly could figure out where Mayhem had gone, O'Reilly had Cloak and Dagger wait outside so that she could think peacefully. Further searching through the apartment, O'Reilly found notes left by Mayhem, indicating the next locations she had gone to: Pier 81 and the Glitter Gutter Club.[1]
In the aftermath of Mayhem's disappearance after she was absorbed in the Dark Dimension by Cloak, O'Reilly returned to Mayhem's apartment at the SRO Hotel, once again going through all the elements gathered by her doppelganger, also finding an obituary for Kenneth Fuchs in the drawer of the nightstand. Upon standing in the room where Mayhem had worked, O'Reilly found the strength to return to duty and to go and help Cloak and Dagger in their investigation.[2]
