- "What's a S.H.I.E.L.D. base doing in Ohio anyway?"
"Hiding. That's what S.H.I.E.L.D. does." - ―Kate Bishop and Ironheart[src]
The Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division, better known by its acronym S.H.I.E.L.D., was an American extra-governmental counter-terrorism and intelligence agency, tasked with maintaining both national and global security.
History[]
- "Um, so we found this in a Quinjet crash in New York. We know it's part of some S.H.I.E.L.D. plan to stop the plague, but can't really see what it does without a S.H.I.E.L.D. motherboard."
- ―Kamala Khan to Melina Vostokoff[src]
In a final effort to stop the Zombie Apocalypse, S.H.I.E.L.D. started Project Lifeshot and created the Intergalactic Transmitter to communicate with the Nova Corps. After that, S.H.I.E.L.D. went into hiding and some of their bases were abandoned, including the North Institute, which would become base of the surviving Black Widows.
In 2023, a S.H.I.E.L.D. Quinjet piloted by Erik Selvig crashed in New York City after he was zombified. Containing the Intergalactic Transmitter, his body was inspected by Kamala Khan, Kate Bishop and Ironheart.[1]
