The Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division, better known by its acronym S.H.I.E.L.D., is an American extra-governmental counter-terrorism and intelligence agency, tasked with maintaining both national and global security.

Thor's Party[]
Maria Hill summons Captain Marvel
S.H.I.E.L.D. responded to the massive extraterrestrial invasion on Earth, located in Las Vegas, where Thor and a large group of individuals from across the galaxy threw an enormous and destructive party. Nick Fury personally approached Thor and demanded to stop the party, however, he was rendered unconscious by Korg, so Maria Hill had to step in as the Acting Director. Hill then enlisted the help of Jane Foster who initially tried to warn S.H.I.E.L.D. about the anomaly before the party started.
As Phil Coulson informed Hill that Thor's party is expanding, Hill ordered Brock Rumlow to find the Transmitter Pager and summon Captain Marvel to take Thor down. Danvers failed the mission, so Hill decided to change the approach, although Foster tried to convince her that Thor was not an enemy. Hill dismissed Foster and Danvers attacked Thor again in Siberia, while S.H.I.E.L.D. brought the Helicarrier there. Hill prepared to launch a nuclear strike in case Danvers fails again, but after Frigga interfered, Hill called it off.[1]
