The Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division, better known by its acronym S.H.I.E.L.D., was an American extra-governmental counter-terrorism and intelligence agency, tasked with maintaining both national and global security. Following the Destruction of Earth, the surviving agents led the surviving Humans to the Lighthouse and later entrusted them to the Kree.
History[]
Having learnt that Glenn Talbot had infused himself with the Gravitonium and was causing destruction through Chicago to obtain more, Quake was sent to defeat him. However, Quake was defeated and became part of Talbot after he absorbed her because the Centipede Serum was unavailable to her, having already been used on Phil Coulson. Talbot used her vibrating powers to break the ground more easily, causing the catastrophic earthquakes that cracked the Earth apart. Agents Coulson and Alphonso Mackenzie were among the casualties as well.[1][2]
Melinda May, Leo Fitz, Jemma Simmons, Yo-Yo Rodriguez and Robin Hinton, boarded Zephyr One and began to fly towards the Lighthouse with surviving Humans. The plane crashed near the base and the surviving humans started their new lives in the underground bunker. May adopted Robin as her daughter and the remaining S.H.E.L.D. agents changed their names in order to stay alive and lead humanity in the apocalypse. Due to misinformation, Quake was blamed for the destruction of the planet.
In the year 2022, the Kree Watch had already subjected the humans in the Lighthouse as part of an agreement with May to supply resources to the needed population. Meanwhile, Fitz and Simmons were working on a primary design of the Isochronus Cyclotron so their younger selves would finish the design. Rodriguez was tired of the Kree's ruling and tried to kill Kasius, but she failed and was apparently killed by them.
Over the years, S.H.I.E.L.D. became a myth for the inhabitants of the Lighthouse, with a small group called the True Believers who believed S.H.I.E.L.D. would come from the past to save them from the Kree. The group was banished from the Lighthouse by the Kree to die on the surface of the Earth, but instead they survived and lived in the deserted Zephyr One.[1]
