In the summer of 1995, Misty Knight was walking around Harlem with her cousin Cassandra. As Knight was thirsty, she left Cassandra alone with Mike Jones, a boy who had approached them and whom Knight thought was spending too much time talking to Cassandra. Knight then walked to Ruiz Bodega and purchased a lemonade. She then walked back to where she had left Cassandra, only to realize she was not there. Two weeks later, Knight learned that Jones and his friends had gang raped Cassandra before they killed her and dumped the body.[1]
