The Roxxon Gulf Platform was a facility owned by the Roxxon Corporation. The platform collapsed releasing an energy explosion that was responsible for Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson's powers.

Purpose[]
It was revealed that the Roxxon Corporation had discovered an abundance of energy in a mysterious form previously unknown to them. The source of energy turned out to be a combination of Darkforce and Lightforce. However, these two energy sources were in an unstable state and it was dangerous to even attempt this without the proper equipment. Thus, an oil rig was designed.[1]
Destruction[]
Eventually, while collecting this volatile substance, the equipment could not handle the power it held. Fumes and contact with the substance affected the crew of the rig, causing them to go into a state of insanity and violence. These affected people were known as Terrors. With the crew unable to stop the equipment failure, eventually there was an explosion which destroyed the rig and granted three nearby individuals, Tyrone Johnson, Tandy Bowen, and Andre Deschaine with superhuman abilities.[2]
