Roughneck was a member of the True Believers community residing on the surface of the post-Apocalyptic Earth. He used to be a resident of the Lighthouse before he alongside many other True Believers were exiled to the surface. He served under True Believer leader Samuel Voss when they decided to kill Daisy Johnson, in attempt to save the future.

Early Life
Roughneck joined the True Believers, a group of Lighthouse inhabitants who were convinced that S.H.I.E.L.D. agents would come from the past to rescue what was left of humanity from the harsh rule of the Kree Watch and would avert the Destruction of Earth. He was soon exiled to the destroyed Earth after Kasius believed he posed a threat because of his beliefs.[1]
Meeting the Saviors
After almost a decade, S.H.I.E.L.D. had arrived. Although Roughneck believed, along with Samuel Voss, that if they were to kill Daisy Johnson, the supposed "Destroyer of Worlds", they could stop the Destruction of Earth.
