Following a string of successes of SSR's Captain Carter and the HYDRA Stomper that were fighting off against HYDRA, Adolf Hitler demanded its leader Johann Schmidt to present himself in Berlin. Roeder was the one to deliver the Fuhrer's message to Schmidt.
Roeder is shot by Johann Schmidt
Once Roeder mocked his recent failures and dismissed his activities as "playing with metal trinkets", Schmidt shot Roeder point-blank range in the stomach. While remaining badly wounded on the floor, Schmidt revealed to him his true face as the "Red Skull" and proclaimed that the Third Reich will fall in order for HYDRA to rise from its ashes.[1]

- Although Roeder wears a historically accurate field grey uniform of a SS-Oberst-Gruppenführer in Captain America: The First Avenger, this alternate Roeder wears a Heer staff officer's green uniform with several incorrect SS insignia.
