The Rift Generator was a device that could open up a Zero Matter rift.

History[]

Whitney Frost found a way to create a Zero Matter rift using a machine and began writing out the blueprints. With help from Joseph Manfredi, Peggy Carter and Daniel Sousa were able to sneak into Frost's room and take pictures of the blueprints. They gave the blueprints to Howard Stark, Jason Wilkes, and Aloysius Samberly to build it. They planned on building it to lure Frost to the portal so they could shoot her with the Gamma Cannon. They struggled to agree on a name for it, one of them being "Shears of God", as suggested by Stark, but Carter suggested Rift Generator.

At Stark's filming studio, they turned on the generator. Soon, Frost arrived, and they shot her with the cannon. The Zero Matter expelled out of her and back into the rift. However, the radio signal wasn't connecting to the machine. They had to shut it off manually. Sousa tied himself to a rope and got to the lever. However, the rope untied, and he started levitating towards the portal. Carter caught the rope, and the others helped her save Sousa. Edwin Jarvis then got Stark's self-driving Hovercar and put explosives into it. He then flew it into the rift and detonated it, closing the rift.[1]
