The "Real World" Universe is a universe where Marvel television series and movies are created as fictional stories.
History[]
Foundation of Marvel[]
Stan Lee became a prolific writer for Marvel,[1] a company which eventually created a franchise known as the Marvel Cinematic Universe under the direction of the artificial intelligence system K.E.V.I.N.[2] Lee was eventually cloned into a separate person named Lan Stee.[1] The Marvel Cinematic Universe began to have several movies centering characters such as Iron Man, Thor, and Loki,[2] and eventually spawned a spinoff series, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., on which Sam worked. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was renewed for a second season, and Stee became invested in the series.[1]
Infiltration into ABC Studios[]
Alex Mind trains with Ming-Na Wen
Lan Stee anonymously hired Alex Mind to infiltrate the set of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. so that Mind could find the finale of the series and leak it online. Mind was hired by ABC and brought onto set, where Dirk scolded him for having his phone on set. Mind went to the set, where he was greeted by Ming-Na Wen and Sam. Wen recruited Mind to help her train, which made Mind uncomfortable, but he was eventually able to leave.
Sam found Mind and told him to find Jed Whedon and get him to go to rehearsal. Mind found Whedon in the set for the Playground, and Whedon thanked Mind before going to rehearsal. Mind then found the director's office and found some images which he photographed and sent to Stee.[3] Mind then set up cameras throughout the set so that Stee could track his progress and tried to get to the writers' office, but Sam appeared and ordered him to deliver schedules to every department. While in the costume department, Mind tried on Lance Hunter's outfit, but was discovered by Adrianne Palicki and Ann Foley. Palicki complimented Mind on the jacket, and Mind offered them both schedules, but they had already, so he left.
Alex Mind looks at the props
Mind found the prop department and found a Diviner, but was interrupted by Scott Bauer, who showed him where the most important props were. Sam arrived and reminded Mind to get back to delivering schedules, so he went to the art department, where he found set photos and concept art to send to Stee. Dirk appeared, but Mind convinced him that he was just getting to know the building.[4]
During the lunch break, Mind went to set to find out what was being filmed and found scripts for Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man, but tossed them aside before finding the script for the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episode Melinda. He took pictures but was discovered by Brett Dalton, leading Mind to hide the script and insist he did not have anything. An alarm went off as Mind's spoilers leaked and the studio went on lockdown, so Mind attempted to leave. He came across Elizabeth Henstridge, but Mind left, so Henstridge called after Iain De Caestecker. While running, Mind ran into Sam and Dirk. As Dirk attempted to catch Mind, Dalton returned and slipped the Melinda script into Sam's bag, reference Hydra to Mind as he walked away.[5]
Chloe Bennet records automated dialogue
With Sam fired, Mind was tasked with her typical role of delivering lunches. Mind brought lunch to the editors, and told Daniel Spilatro that he did not have Spilatro's lunch, sending Spilatro to a taco truck on set. This allowed Mind to enter Chris Cheramie's office and download the finale onto a hard drive, but was found by Dirk. Mind escaped through the vent as a chase began, but fell into a hallway. He ran through a recording booth, where Cheramie and Robert Parigi were struggling to get a good take from Chloe Bennet as she recorded her dialogue for the episode The Dirty Half Dozen. Mind left through the back exit and found his vehicle as Dirk chased him.[6]
Mind was pursued in a car chase by Dirk and several security agents, but managed to escape. He handed over the hard drive to Stee, who began to upload it. However, ABC Studios security was able to trace Mind via his security badge, and Dirk arrived to stop the upload and arrest Mind and Stee. Clark Gregg contacted Dirk to congratulate him and recognized Stee as his template. Gregg attempted to convince Stee to simply wait for the finale to air to find out what happens, but Stee refused and was taken to the Fridge. However, Gregg recognized how elaborate Stee's plans was and the reactions the general public had, so he agreed to a preview and uploaded a clip of Jiaying claiming that Robert Gonzales attacked her.[1]
Continued Production[]
Marvel continued to produce multiple projects, eventually becoming known for high stakes and spectacle, often creating very busy climaxes.[2]
Infiltration into Marvel Studios Headquarters[]
She-Hulk arrives in the Real World Universe
The Marvel Cinematic Universe eventually made a series, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Under K.E.V.I.N.'s instructions, the writers created a finale in which She-Hulk was confronted by a Gamma Radiation-enhanced Todd Phelps, Abomination, and the sudden return of Hulk from outer space, as well as Titania appearing. Once this was done, the studio moved on quickly to the next project. However, She-Hulk became overwhelmed and unsatisfied with the finale. A glitch happened at Marvel, allowing She-Hulk to break out of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and enter the "Real World" Universe via Assembled. This led her to a sound stage at Marvel Studios Headquarters, where she found the writing team planning a potential second season.
The writers of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law listen to She-Hulk
She-Hulk confronted the team about the quality of the finale, but Jessica Gao said that they thought it would be cool. Zeb Wells claimed that every superhero story had to happen a certain way, but She-Hulk suggested that they could do their own thing. This was met with laughter from the writers' room, but Gao simply said it was what K.E.V.I.N. wanted. Believing K.E.V.I.N. to be a person, she went to talk to him, leading to more laughter from the room.
She-Hulk went to a reception area and was asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement, to which she agreed. However, the receptionist pressed the security button, leading to a fight as She-Hulk fought through several guards on her way to meet K.E.V.I.N., discovering that he was an artificial intelligence. She-Hulk expressed displeasure with her story, noting that since her series was a legal comedy, she should get to present a closing argument. As Jennifer Walters, she explained that the MCU had become known for spectacle and similar endings. K.E.V.I.N. agreed and asked for her input on the finale, leading Walters to suggest the removal of Phelps getting powers and Hulk coming to rescue her and for Abomination to hold himself accountable. Walters tried to continue talking to K.E.V.I.N. about why so many characters had problems with their fathers and when the X-Men would get adapted, but K.E.V.I.N. told her that she had to return to her series and that they fixed the glitch that allowed her to leave it, unable to return to the Real World Universe. Walters left, returning to her own universe.[2]
