The company's success drew the attention of the Hand, an ancient and mysterious crime organization. Harold and Wendell were approached by Madame Gao, one of the Hand leaders, who sought to make a business deal but Rand disapproved. After uncovering Meachum's actions, Rand charted a plane to Anzhou and planned to take his wife Heather and their son Danny with him. Meachum decided to prevent Rand from bringing back proof by causing his plane to crash mid-flight. Before the Rands left the United States, Meachum injected the pilots with a poison he had previously obtained from Madame Gao. En route to Anzhou, both pilots succumbed to the poison and lost control of the plane. The plane crashed into the Himalayan mountain range, instantly killing Heather and Wendell. Rand Enterprises is an international corporation of humanitarian aid, headquartered in New York City. Founded by Wendell Rand and Harold Meachum, the company flourished under their leadership. In 2001, Meachum engineered an airplane accident which claimed the lives of Rand and his wife, and led to their son Danny Rand being declared legally dead; with Rand's death, the company subsequently fell under the sole leadership of Meachum.

In 2004, Meachum died of cancer and his son Ward Meachum and daughter Joy Meachum officially took over, although Harold, who had been resurrected by the Hand, continued to lead the company from the shadows. After Danny Rand returned to New York in 2016, he was granted his rightful position as majority shareholder, although his decision to prioritize morality over profits caused the board to terminate his employment, firing Ward and Joy as well.

Following the assassination of board member Lawrence Wilkins, slated to be the company's new leader, Rand Enterprises had the three reinstated in order to salvage their public image. After the death of Bakuto, Harold decided to reveal his existence in order to officially reclaim the title of CEO; however, Ward killed his father in order to save Rand's life.

Rand Enterprises was founded by Wendell Rand and Harold Meachum, and headquartered in New York City. Since its initial launch, Rand Enterprises has been a successful international company, specializing at several industries such as chemicals, cybernetics and pharmaceutics.[1] The new corporation also made business rivalries with various companies such as the Roxxon Corporation.[2]

Jeri Hogarth was employed by Rand Enterprises as an intern for Rand. During her time there, Hogarth made a rivalry with Rand's secretary Margaret, cursing her, what was heard by Rand's son, Danny. Hogarth bribed Danny to not tell anyone about that.[3]

Together with their family members, Rand and Meachum filmed a commercial for Rand Enterprises, although Danny previously refused to participate.[4]

The car accident that blinded Matt Murdock

In 1994, a Rand Enterprises truck with hazardous chemicals was part of a car accident that almost killed an elderly man. Chemicals from the flipped truck splashed on Matt Murdock's face, who saved the man's life. As they were absorbed into his eyes, Murdock was blinded.[5]

The Rands Are Gone

As a successful company, Rand Enterprises was approached by the Hand. Madame Gao offered Harold Meachum and Wendell Rand cooperation what Rand ultimately dismissed. However, Meachum was diagnosed with terminal cancer and Gao promised to cure him if he agreed to work with the Hand. Unbeknownst to Rand, Meachum used Rand Enterprises' assets and built several laboratories in China for the purpose of expanding the Hand's drug manufacturing operations.[6]

Rand learned about the secret business in China and charted a plane to Anzhou, planning to shut down the laboratories. Fearing that his actions would be uncovered, Meachum caused the plane crush at the Himalayas, seemingly killing Rand, as well as his wife and son.[1]

Meachum then became the CEO of Rand Enterprises, continuing his cooperation with the Hand. Also, he decided to put Ward Meachum in charge of Rand's subsidiary, Domani Architecture.[7] Eventually, Meachum died and the company was inherited by Ward, while Joy Meachum became the Chief Counsel. However, Meachum was resurrected by Gao who forced him to control Rand Enterprises for the Hand's benefit through Ward, who was the only one to know of his survival.[1]

 • In the comics, Rand-Meachum Inc. was owned by Wendell Rand and Harold Meachum. Meachum killed Wendell, while his wife and their son Danny Rand were on an expedition. When Rand finally returned to New York after many years of training in K'un-Lun, Meachum was killed before he could get his revenge. The company was then left to Ward and Joy Meachum. But eventually the company came under Rand's control and with the help of Jeryn Hogarth and it was rebranded Rand Corporation.
