"Police say four people are dead and three wounded in a gang-related gun battle that broke out in a Lower East Side housing project. Some are calling it the major salvo in a gang war, one of three such raids in the last twenty-four hours."

The Raid of the Lower East Side Housing Project was a massacre of a rival criminal gang, carried out by Jigsaw's Crew.

Background[]

On the outskirts of New York City, Jigsaw went to meet with the surviving members of his crew and gave the stolen money from their previous robbery. Despite this, Jigsaw had then told the crew that everything they stole from ReadyQuick Check Cashing should be considered as nothing more than scraps, questioning if they want something more than just one heist. Jigsaw promised the rest of the crew that they should build an army, promising that this one would not be a gang, but a brotherhood, leading the rest of them to join forces with Jigsaw.[3]

Using all the money they stole from their robbery at the ReadyQuick Check Cashing, Jigsaw and the surviving members of his crew then invested everything that they had stolen in their new equipment and weaponry. They recruited other veterans who were willing to join their robberies, and Jigsaw was able to plan out the attack on a drug den, with he and his crew carrying it out and slaughtering everybody inside the Lower East Side apartment with considerable ease. Once the crew shot down the people inside each room of the apartment, they gathered all of the money and left the location to celebrate their success at their hideout.[2]

Aftermath[]

While his crew celebrated continued success with their robberies, Jigsaw continued his relationship with Krista Dumont, which led to a discussion of their future together and a reason to get rid of the Punisher before he could kill him.

Searching for Jigsaw, Punisher tracked down several members of his crew, led by Moke. Killing all of them, the Punisher took Moke's smartphone and found his picture of Lanie. Visiting Tipsy Tilly's Bar, the Punisher convinced Lanie to tell him about Jigsaw's crew and their hideout.[2]
