Spider-Man's Origins[]
- "She told me with great power..."
"Comes great responsibility."
"Wait, what? How do you know that?"
"Uncle Ben said it."
"The day he died." - ―Peter Parker, Peter Parker and Peter Parker[src]
As a teenager, Peter Parker was bitten by a genetically enhanced spider, giving him spider-like powers and abilities. One night, his uncle Ben Parker told him "With great power, comes great responsibility", and later that night, Ben was murdered. Taking his uncle's philosophy to heart, Parker decided to use his newfound powers to become the vigilante known as Spider-Man. Around this time, Parker met Oscorp scientist Curt Connors and began dating Gwen Stacy.[1]
Lizard's Next Step in Evolution[]
- "Doctor Curt Connors he was scientist at Oscorp when I worked there. A brilliant scientist. Until he turned himself into a lizard. Then he tried to turn the whole city into lizards."
- ―Max Dillon[src]
When Curt Connors transformed himself into a lizard, he believed that it was the next step in human evolution so he attempted to turn the city into lizards. However, he was stopped by Spider-Man, who used an antidote he created to revert Conners back into his human form.[1]
Rise of Electro[]
- "You know, Max was, like, the sweetest guy ever before he fell into... a pool of electric eels."
- ―Spider-Man to Spider-Man[src]
Spider-Man met an Oscorp employee by the name of Max Dillon. While Dillon believed that he was nobody, Spider-Man encouraged him, leading Dillon to become a massive fan of the web-slinger. Following a fall into a tank filled with enhanced electric eels, Dillon gained electricity powers, and became the villain known as Electro. During a confrontation with Spider-Man at Oscorp's main power grid, Spider-Man caused the death of Electro by overcharging him with energy, leading him to explode.
In an ensuing fight that followed, Spider-Man's girlfriend, Gwen Stacy, died when Spider-Man attempted to save her from falling.[1]
Spider-Man's Continued Heroics[]
- "Tried to keep going, tried to keep being... the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man cause I know that's what she would have wanted. But at some point, I just stopped pulling my punches."
- ―Spider-Man to Spider-Man[src]
Mourning Gwen Stacy's death, a guilt-ridden Peter Parker was consumed by grief and suddenly became engulfed in bitterness and began to develop destructive tendencies. While Parker continued to fight crime as Spider-Man in honor of Stacy, he focused all of his energy into his crimefighting persona unlike before.
Months after his final battle with Electro, Spider-Man would duel with the Russian criminal Aleksei Sytsevich in a mechanical rhino suit, leading him to be dubbed Rhino.[1]

When the Doctor Strange and Peter Parker of Earth-616 botched a Runes of Kof-Kol spell, the Spider-Man, Lizard, and Electro of this universe were displaced to Earth-616 due to their knowledge of Peter Parker's secret identity as Spider-Man. Behind the Scenes[]
- According to the The Appendix to the Handbook of the Marvel Universe, a fan run site whose universe designations are approved by Marvel editorial, this universe's designation is Earth-120703. The numerical designation of this universe references the theatrical release date of the Sony Pictures Entertainment film The Amazing Spider-Man from which these characters originated, July 3, 2012 (03/07/12).
- According to Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach who were the main producers of the The Amazing Spider-Man duology, Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures had discussed the idea of including the Oscorp Tower as depicted in the films in the New York City skyline for The Avengers, which therefore would have placed the The Amazing Spider-Man film series within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the idea was scrapped as the design for the building was not finalized in time to add it to the digital skyline.[2]
