"People always ask me how can we charge so much for what amounts to gradations of white. I tell them it's not about the artist's name or the skill required not even about the art itself. All that matters is "How does it make you feel?""
"It makes me feel alone."

Rabbit in a Snowstorm is the third episode of the first season of the Netflix exclusive television series Daredevil.

Synopsis

Murdock and Foggy take on a mysterious wealthy client, but Murdock is convinced that there's more to the case than just the facts.

Plot

Thirty-six hours ago, John Healy went to Turk Barrett to get a gun; he was hired to kill a man named Prohaszka. Barrett promised him that the gun would not jam since it was fresh from the crate.

Healy goes to a bowling alley where Prohaszka, with his two bodyguards, is bowling and asks him if he can play with him. Prohaszka refuses and orders his bodyguards to make Healy leave. Healy fights the men and sends them running before he fights Prohaszka. When he draws his gun on the bowler, it jams; Healy ultimately kills Prohaszka by smashing his face with a bowling ball. The police arrive; Healy hides the gun, surrenders, and asks for a lawyer.

Matt Murdock is still in pain from his fight with the Russians. He sits on a bench and Father Lantom sees him; Lantom knows that he is the son of Jack Murdock. Lantom sees the scars on Murdock's face and asks him to talk over a latte that the church has a machine to make; Murdock refuses and leaves.

In the law office of Nelson and Murdock, Karen Page gets a letter from Union Allied Construction; she quickly hides it as Foggy Nelson arrives, reeling from the fun he and Page had the night before. He reminds her that she agreed to work for free, to her dismay. When Murdock enters, they see his scars, but when they confront him on them, Murdock lies about how he got them.

James Wesley knocks on the door and offers the lawyers to work for him and take the Healy case, giving a substantially large check as a permanent retainer. Murdock does not trust him and follows him as Wesley goes the car of his employer. Murdock starts to bleed from his wounds and lets them leave.

In the jailhouse, Nelson does not want to accept the case after meeting Healy who comes off a little too wise to the legal system. However, Murdock wants the case, citing that they need the money.

Meanwhile, Page meets with a lawyer representing her former job; he wants her to sign a non-disclosure agreement and take six months pay for her trouble. She feels insulted because her "trouble" involved her nearly being killed twice. She does not sign the papers as a result.

Daredevil080

In court, Murdock notices that a juror's heartbeat changes noticeably when Wesley enters. He follows her that night and learns that she is being blackmailed. Beating up the man blackmailing her, Daredevil learns nothing from him except that there will be another blackmailed to take her place.

Murdock has Page research his employer but she finds that he works for a dummy company.

Ben Urich believes that there is a new power player in Hell's Kitchen, but his boss in the New York Bulletin, Mitchell Ellison, does not want him to pursue it because it does not sell newspapers. Urich is also concerned about the welfare of his sickly wife in hospice.

John-Healy-Suicide-Blood

In court, Murdock tells the jury that, by the letter of the law, Healy is not guilty of murder; when they return with their verdict, Murdock notices that another juror's heartbeat increases when Wesley enters. There is a hung jury, setting Healy free. Daredevil meets Healy and they have a fight; Healy is skilled in turning anything around him into a weapon. Pinning Healy, Daredevil gets Healy to name Wilson Fisk as his employer; shortly afterwards, Healy commits suicide, afraid of the repercussions that naming Fisk will have.

Page goes to see the wife of Daniel Fisher to give her condolences; she is not accepting and wants to be left alone to raise her children in peace. Page learns that Mrs. Fisher signed her agreement because she needed the money.

Wesley talks with Leland Owlsley who wonders what is keeping Fisk so preoccupied lately and learns that Fisk is now into art.

At an art gallery, Fisk meets Vanessa Marianna and discusses a painting.

Page goes to Urich wanting his help against Union Allied Construction.
