The Quantum Core was a device capable of specifically targeting objects to be shrunk or grown with Pym Particles.
History[]
Scott Lang and Wasp demonstrated the Quantum Core to the audience of their Miracles from Molecules seminar. They attempted to shrink a large suitcase and a towel swan that Lang had made, but due to an error caused by Lang wiring the remote targeting system, the suitcase was shrunk while the towel swan was enlarged. Lang tried to use the Quantum Core again to return the towel swan to normal size to surprise van Dyne, but accidentally ended up shrinking the cruise ship carrying the viewing audience. Lang was eventually able to use the Quantum Core to return the ship to its proper size, but doing so fried the regulator.[1]
However, the energy signature of the Quantum Core drew Ultron and his sentries to the area, with Ultron desiring to take control of the Quantum Core. Sam Wilson and Kamala Khan soon arrived to help defend the Quantum Core, eventually requesting van Dyne as back-up. van Dyne tasked Lang with fixing the regulator before heading off to help Wilson and Khan fight the Ultron Sentries. However, Lang was soon approached by Ultron, who, despite Lang's attempts to stop him, absorbed the regulator into his body. Lang had F.R.I.D.A.Y. attempt to trap Ultron with a shield barrier before asking van Dyne if the Quantum Cores could be weaponized to target Ultron. van Dyne confirmed that the cores technically could be weaponized against Ultron if Lang adjusted their wave frequencies to target him, with Lang asking F.R.I.D.A.Y. to target every Quantum Core at Ultron. While Lang stalled Ultron, F.R.I.D.A.Y. managed to target as many Quantum Cores as possible at Ultron. At Lang's signal, the Quantum Cores were activated and hit the regulator in Ultron's body, shrinking and destroying it.[1]
Groot later incorporated a Quantum Core alongside the Quantum Destroyer in an attempt to cheer up Rocket Raccoon by displaying images of his heroics to an audience.[2]
Capabilities[]
Each Quantum Core possessed a button that could be pressed to send a signal to a regulator that would remotely target a specific object to be shrunk or grown with Pym Particles.[2]
