- "You have no idea what it's like. Day after day, shovel the shit, 'fetch the meats!' I have spent my entire exis–!"
- ―Pyro to Cassandra Nova[src]
John Allerdyce was a mutant with pyrokinetic powers, going by the name Pyro. He was one of Cassandra Nova's henchmen in the Void, though Pyro secretly hated Nova and wanted to escape the dimension. Hence, he operated as an informant for the Time Variance Authority agent Mr. Paradox, reporting on Nova's dealings and the happens of her domain. While the crew was pitted against Deadpool, Wolverine, and the Resistance, Pyro attempted to finally kill Nova, though this assassination attempt failed. When Pyro confessed Paradox's plans to Nova, he was murdered by Nova.
Biography[]
Working for Cassandra Nova[]
Pruned[]
John Allerdyce was a mutant with the ability to control fire, earning him the name Pyro.[2] When he was younger, Pyro attended the Charles Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters.[3] Eventually, Pyro encountered the TVA, who pruned him, sending Pyro to the Void. The wasteland was ruled by a powerful mutant, Cassandra Nova, who forced Pyro, as well as many other evil mutants, to work for her.[2]
Capturing Heroes[]

Pyro successfully surrounds Human Torch
- "Cassandra is gonna be giddy when she sees what we caught. You can't run. Everybody knows that."
- ―Pyro to Human Torch[src]
Pyro, Sabretooth and Toad went out searching for people in the Void to capture and bring back to Cassandra Nova. They found a Minuteman, Human Torch, a member of the Resistance, along with Deadpool, and Wolverine. Pyro knew that Nova would be happy with him bringing him Human Torch, and he told him that there was no escape.

Pyro extinguishes all of Human Torch's fire
Human Torch combust into flames and attempted to attack Pyro, who effortlessly extinguished all of Human Torch's fire, stripping his power away and defeating him. Sabretooth was killed trying to fight Wolverine, so Pyro ordered Toad to knock them out, and they took the three prisoners back to the compound. Pyro watched Nova interact with the prisoners, in which she violently killed Human Torch, but when Alioth arrived, Deadpool and Wolverine escaped.[2]
Deal with Mr. Paradox[]

Pyro updates Mr. Paradox on the situation
- "Do you want it done or not?"
"All right, your price. Take her out." - ―Pyro and Mr. Paradox[src]
Pyro had been in contact with the TVA agent Mr. Paradox, who wanted Pyro to ensure that Alioth killed Deadpool and Wolverine. Pyro went out searching for the two, tracking their recent whereabouts to a diner, so he called Paradox to inform him of the situation.

Pyro makes a deal to escape from the Void
Pyro revealed that the Resistance found Deadpool and Wolverine, but Cassandra Nova would deal with them if they returned. However, Paradox did not trust Nova's stability, and was aware she could stop his plans. Paradox urged Pyro that the completion of the Time Ripper was near and that he did not want any risks to prevent that. Pyro offered to deal with Nova for Paradox, and in return he would be freed from the Void, so Paradox agreed to the deal.[2]
Betraying Cassandra Nova[]

Pyro betrays Cassandra Nova in the assault
- "A guy named Paradox. He said he'd get me out of the Void. All I know is he works for the TVA."
"The TVA? We had an agreement."
"I don't think this guy cares." - ―Pyro and Cassandra Nova[src]
The next morning, Pyro returned to Cassandra Nova's Lair, which was attacked by the Resistance. Deadpool and Wolverine made it to Cassandra Nova and disabled her powers, but they were interrupted by Pyro, who shot Nova multiple times in the stomach. Pyro began to give a speech about hating working for Nova, but Wolverine punched him, knocking him out.

Pyro's neck is snapped by Cassandra Nova
Pyro was awakened later by Nova, who decided to help Deadpool and Wolverine escape the Void. Nova wanted to know why Pyro betrayed her, so she went to stick her fingers in his head to read his mind, but he was grossed out by that and decided to just tell her. Pyro revealed that Mr. Paradox promised to get him out of the Void if he killed her, and Nova was angered that the TVA broke their arrangement. Nova then opened a portal to Paradox's location, and Pyro stepped out to warn Paradox of Nova. However, she quickly snapped his neck from behind, ending his life and throwing his corpse back into the Void.[2]
Personality[]
- "I cannot take any chances."
"Maybe not. But I can... for a price."
"Why do you have to say it in that silly voice? It's so icky." - ―Mr. Paradox and Pyro[src]
Pyro presented himself as a cocky individual who was very confident in his abilities, as shown when he almost effortlessly absorbed Human Torch's flaming abilities, causing the latter to fall to the ground unconscious. Although he ostensibly worked for Cassandra Nova in the Void, he felt that he was mistreated by Nova and was subjected to tiresome work, hence became dissatisfied at Nova's leadership. At the same time, his desire to leave the Void grew as time passed. These factors combined intensify Pyro's hatred towards his leader. Therefore, he made a deal with Mr. Paradox, becoming his sleeper agent and informant, betraying Nova in exchange for eventual freedom.
The tendency to betray others eventually led to his downfall. After his failed murder attempt at Nova, he immediately revealed Paradox's plot and the Time Ripper's existence to Nova so that she did not need to read his mind. When faced with immediate life danger, Pyro's cockiness faded away, revealing a cowardly individual who would betray anyone to live, though Nova killed him eventually as she got all the information she needed anyway.

Behind the Scenes[]
- Pyro in the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues the live-action incarnation of the character from 20th Century Fox's X-Men film series, who was also portrayed by Aaron Stanford, who had replaced Alexander Burton.
- According to Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy, Pyro's inclusion in the film came about by letting the story dictate the characters instead of the other way around, being an "outgrowth" of that process.[4] Because of their plans to include the Human Torch, the filmmakers felt it made sense to bring Pyro back to contrast the Human Torch due to his similar fire powers.[5]
- Aaron Stanford enjoyed returning as Pyro due to getting the chance to actually use a comic book-accurate costume unlike the ones he got to wear on X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand.[6] The new costume as seen in the film heavily resembled to the Earth-1610 version of Pyro from the comic.
- James Harris was a stunt double for Aaron Stanford in the role of Pyro.
