"The suit has no weapons, so I made you these disks: red shrinks, blue enlarges"
Hank Pym to Scott Lang[src]

The Pym Particles Discs are a complementary weapons technology for the Ant-Man Suit, created by Hank Pym, the first Ant-Man, for his successor Scott Lang. They are stored in a special compartment on the Ant-Man Suit's belt.

Scott Lang's Training

Since Hank Pym created them, he has the most experience in using the discs and has shown great skill and accuracy when using them. During Scott Lang's training, he has shown difficulty using these discs. During practice he missed a bottle and instead expanded a garden gnome.

Ant-Man using a Pym Particle Disk at the Quantum Realm

Later on, while attempting to hit Yellowjacket, his throws were deflected and he accidentally enlarged one of his ants and a piece of his daughter's Thomas the Tank Engine. However, Lang has demonstrated an ability to find creative uses for the discs by using an enlarger disc to shatter the hermetically-sealed containment chamber he had been trapped in, and later combining an enlarger disc with the regulator on his belt in order to escape from the subatomic Quantum Realm.[1]

Ant-Man assisting Captain America

"Hey Cap, heads up! Throw it at! Oh man, I thought it was a water truck, uh... sorry."
Ant-Man to Captain America[src]

Ant-Man would later employ the discs during the Clash of the Avengers, using a blue disc on a miniaturized truck filled with fuel which he had Captain America throw, the truck was brought back to its original size before exploding as it slammed into War Machine.[2]

Ambush at Ghost's Hideout

Bill Foster used a Pym Particles Disk to reduce the Quantum Energy Chamber while apprehending Ant-ManWasp and Hank Pym.

Shrinking Car

"Well, the 60s were fun, but now I'm paying for it!"
Watcher Informant[src]
The Watcher Informant was in San Francisco and was about to unlock his car when it was shrunken after being hit a Pym Particles Disk thrown by the Wasp. Believing it to be a hallucination, he commented that the 1960s had been fun but that now he was paying for it.[3]

About the size of a coin and shaped like a triskelion-styled shuriken, the discs are filled with specified forms of Pym Particles. When thrown, the discs release their Pym Particles upon impact with the target, triggering one of two effects depending on the type of disc used:

  • Red Discs - The target shrinks to the size of an insect; Contains a unique form of Pym Particles similar to those that power the Ant-Man Suit, supplying sparse mass for stabilization.
  • Blue Discs - The target grows to the size of a giant; Contains a unique form of Pym Particles different from those that power the Ant-Man Suit, supplying extra mass for stabilization. After plunging into the Quantum Realm, Scott Lang was able to reverse the effect by inserting a Blue Disc into the Suit's regulator and releasing the enlarging Pym Particles directly into the suit.

  • When Ant-Man inserted the blue Pym Particle disc into his regulator, his belt glowed blue, a reference to his Giant Man identity.
