Grant Ward's Escape[]
As a teenager, Grant Ward was detained at the Plymouth Juvenile Secure Unit after he had attempted to burn down his family's house. He was later visited by John Garrett, who warned him that his family was pressing charges against him, and offered Ward to join him in his work as a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. Ward hesitated to give a definitive answer, but Garrett urged him to choose quickly, giving him only seconds before he would leave the prison and get out of Ward's life. Then, as soon as Ward accepted Garrett's offer, a squad of armed operatives stormed the facility, enabling Ward to escape from the prison thanks to Garrett.[1]
