The therapist graduated from college with a bachelor's degree and eventually went on to work at St. John's Hospital where he had a patient named Jonathan Pangborn, who was paralyzed. Pangborn came in three times a week, but one day just stopped coming. The therapist started to believe he was dead until one day, Pangborn walked by him on the streets.

In 2016, Doctor Stephen Strange started coming in to see the therapist, having been involved in a car crash that caused him to have nerve damage in his hands, inhibiting him from performing surgery. The therapist tried to encourage Strange during his sessions, but Strange was unwilling to give it a chance, discouraged by the lack in progress. Starting to throw insults at the therapist, Strange asked if he had ever seen anyone with nerve damage this bad but was still able to recover.

The therapist quickly responded with his story about Pangborn. Strange was quick to call the therapist a liar, unwilling to listen to any possibility despite wanting desperately for there to be some. The therapist told Strange that although it would take him a while to find the files, he would do so in order to prove the arrogant Strange wrong. Later, the therapist managed to find the files and mailed them to Strange with a note gloating that he was correct.[1]
