Virginia "Pepper" Potts is the newly appointed CEO of Stark Industries and former assistant for Tony Stark. Potts supported Stark during the attacks the company suffered in a plot by Kearson DeWitt, with her discovering the nature of Project P.R.O.T.E.A.N., linking it to DeWitt's current goal.

Biography[]

Stark Industries[]

Pepper Potts took over for Tony Stark at Stark Industries. The company helped Stark with his philanthropy, and Potts became familiar with Stark Industries projects such as Project Greengrid.[1]

Providing an Exit[]

Rhodey Explains Theft

Potts learns about the Theft of the Dataspine

Pepper Potts stayed on the Stark Industries Private Jet while Tony Stark and James Rhodes attempted to prevent Roxxon from stealing the Dataspine. She readied the plane as Stark contacted her requesting an exit strategy and was standing inside when he and Rhodes boarded. Stark declared it to be a kidnapping, confusing Potts, who insisted there was no one for them to kidnap. However, Stark and Rhodes explained that J.A.R.V.I.S. was taken during the fight, prompting Potts to ask who was capable of running a program as complex as J.A.R.V.I.S. Potts suggested that Russia was involved with Roxxon as they had been trying to recreate the Iron Man armor, and Rhodes noted that Roxxon was the only company selling combat drones. Potts noted that Russia would not take a risk, but Rhodes noted that while they would not officially, Valentin Shatalov would. Stark noted that Shatalov was attempting an insurrection in Russia, which Potts suggested could succeed with Roxxon hardware. Stark then had J.A.R.V.I.S. take the plane to Russia.[1]

Meeting with Natasha Romanoff[]

"Jeez. The guy even SOUNDS like an evil mastermind, doesn't he? How could that not be a red flag at any job interview the guy ever had, right?"
"It wasn't a red flag for us."
Tony Stark and Pepper Potts[src]

Potts attended a meeting in which Natasha Romanoff explained that Kearson DeWitt was responsible for the creation of the Crimson Dynamo Armor. Stark commented on his name sounding like it belonged to an evil mastermind, but Potts pointed out that Stark Industries had hired him for their Theoretical Weapons Division. She explained that DeWitt worked on Project P.R.O.T.E.A.N., which Stark Industries had deemed dangerous. Stark asked Potts to call their company's lawyers to get his severance package back, since DeWitt had violated the non-compete agreement in his contract.[1]

Operation Daybreak[]

"I thought you said this suit could fly!"
"Hey, we're over out weight limit."
―Pepper Potts and Tony Stark[src]

Tony Stark asked Potts to meet her at his plane with his suitcase. Potts met with Stark, but was suddenly grabbed by a P.R.O.T.E.A.N. Hybrid as the Helicarrier was attacked. The hybrid threw her off the Helicarrier, but Stark caught her. Stark brought Potts to a S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicopter and left her with the pilot so that he could stop the attack.[1]

Project Greengrid[]

Pepper Remembers Greengrid

Potts realizes that Ultimo will use Project Greengrid

"GREENGRID."
"Gold star for our CEO, ladies and gentlemen."
―Pepper Potts and Tony Stark[src]

Potts attended a meeting in which Tony Stark posited the question of how one would target the entire Earth at once. Nick Fury suggested earthquakes, but Stark explained that Stark Industries was not conducting seismic research, so the secondary target would be the sky. This prompted Potts to remember Project Greengrid, which had the ability to create large storms and weaponize the sky. Potts explained that he would not be able to hide Greengrid since it was too large, so Stark explained that they would be hiding it in a storm. Stark and Rhodes then left to stop A.I.M.[1]

Tony Stark's Near-Sacrifice[]

"Tony, it's me, Pepper. Please don't--"
"Hey, Pep, bad time--""
―Pepper Potts and Tony Stark[src]

During Stark's final confrontation against Ultimo, Stark began to put all of his power into killing Ultimo, draining his life support and killing him. Potts pled with Stark not to, but he ignored her.[1]

Personality[]

Potts is a loyal employee of Tony Stark who was willing to support Stark during his missions. Despite being CEO of Stark Industries, she still made time to help Stark fight Ultimo and attend meetings regarding the fight. She was knowledgeable about the happenings in her company and was even able to recall specific projects which had been cancelled.
