Virginia "Pepper" Potts is the CEO of Stark Industries and a former assistant of Tony Stark.
Biography[]
Stark's Press Conference[]

Pepper was angry to learn that Obadiah Stane staged an attack on Tony
- "And what do you smell?"
"Nothing. And that's the problem. Everyone wants something." - ―James Rhodes and Pepper Potts[src]
Pepper Potts and Happy Hogan attended a press conference at Stark Industries Headquarters, after Tony Stark was rescued in Afghanistan. As Potts listened how Stark decided to enlist Erik Stevens as the Chief Security Officer at Stark Industries, Hogan complained to Potts that it was supposed to be his position. Much to Potts' shock, Stevens revealed that the Ten Rings' attack on Stark was orchestrated by Obadiah Stane, which resulted in his arrest.
Potts then joined Stark and Stevens at the party in Stark's mansion, when he decided to appoint Stevens as the COO of Stark Industries. Potts expressed her surprise that Stark would give him Stane's old position, and although Stark tried to compare him and Stevens to Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid, Potts reminded Stark that they both died at the end. Regardless, Stark was certain that he needs a man like Stevens in his company, while Potts remained suspicious.

She then met with James Rhodes and asked him what did he find out about Stevens and his background. Rhodes told Potts about Stevens' military records and his service for the covert assassination unit, admitting that Stevens did rather good for a kid from Oakland. When Rhodes asked what was her concern, Potts replied that a lot of people try to get close to Stark for one reason or another, and finding out why is Potts' job. However, Potts noted that she cannot figure out Stevens' intentions, which concerned her even more, since everyone wants something from Stark.[1]
American-Wakandan War[]

Potts argues with Tony Stark
- "Okay, hold on. That'll require a multi-billion-dollar allocation. The board will need to be consulted."
"The Patriot Act should cover the red tape. The U.S. military is hereby seizing control of all Stark Industries assets."
"You must be joking."
"No one has ever accused me of being funny, Miss Potts." - ―Pepper Potts and Thaddeus Ross[src]
Later, Tony Stark and Erik Stevens started to work on the Project Liberator, however, they needed Vibranium alloy to solve the energy issue. Potts was completely against that, since Stark was thinking about contacting Ulysses Klaue, reminding him that Stark Industries does not fraternize with black market dealers. Stevens agreed with Potts, much to her surprise, pointing out that shareholders might flip if things go south, and suggested using some diplomatic cover. Stark deicded to deploy James Rhodes as the company's military liaison and told Potts to prepare the purchase order.
However, Rhodes ended up being killed at the Salvage Yard, so Potts attended his funeral with Stevens and Thaddeus Ross. Rhodes died together with T'Challa, which resulted in the political tension between the United States of America and Wakanda, and eventually, Stark was found dead in his mansion. Ross and Stevens found the Vibranium Spear at the scene, assuming that Stark was killed by the Wakandans, while Potts noticed that J.A.R.V.I.S. was conviniently wiped clean, so they had no camera footage. Potts expressed her suspicions that Stevens might be connected to all the murders, but Ross dismissed that, since Stevens was a decorated U.S. soldier.
Ross then claimed that Wakanda chose to bring in the war, so he ordered to bring in the Stark Liberator Drones as the main firepower. Potts protested, stating that deploying so much firepower would require a billion-dollar allocation, and the board of directors must be consulted beforehand. However, Ross intiiated the Patriot Act and stated that the U.S. military is hereby seizing the Stark Industries assets. Potts was appaled, but Ross was serious in his intentions and ordered to put the Liberator Drones into the mass production.[1]
Uncovering the Truth[]
- "It appears we have a common enemy."
"Unfortunately, your side and mine refuse to see it."
"So, let us open their eyes together." - ―Shuri and Pepper Potts[src]
The initial attempt to breach Wakanda's borders ended up in failure, so Thaddeus Ross visited Stark Industries Headquarters and ordered to lock the Jericho missiles on Wakanda. Potts expressed her doubts that deploying so much firepower on the relatively unknown African country was rational, but Ross was adamant on putting an end to Wakanda. Back at her office, Potts was suddenly approached by Shuri, who presented her with the evidence that Erik Stevens was responsible for Tony Stark's death, as well as the deaths of T'Challa and James Rhodes.

Potts prepares to confront Erik Killmonger
Potts remarked that both the American and Wakandan sides refused to admit the facts, so Shuri offered to work together to expose the truth.[1] Armed with the Jericho Rifle, Potts later accompanied Shuri and the Dora Milaje to the Citadel, where they were going to bring Stevens down. Shuri reminded Potts that, despite being an American war criminal, Stevens must be tried by Wakandan law for killing their Prince beforehand. However, once they reached the throne room, Potts and Shuri found it empty, with Stevens nowhere to be found. Unknown to them, Killmonger had been taken from their world by Watcher to be recruited as a member of the Guardians of the Multiverse to stop Ultron, a task which led to Killmonger never coming back to his world, preventing Pepper and Shuri from ever taking him into custody to face justice for his crimes.[2]
