Margaret Elizabeth "Peggy" Carter is a former SSR agent and a founder of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Biography[]

Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.[]

Following World War II, Peggy Carter and Howard Stark founded the new peacekeeping organization S.H.I.E.L.D. as a successor to the Strategic Scientific Reserve, with Carter as serving as the Director. She dated the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Daniel Sousa, but their relationship ended. In 1955, S.H.I.E.L.D. agents from the future infiltrated Area 51, a S.H.I.E.L.D. base, in order to stop the Chronicom Hunters from using Helius to kill the top scientist of the organization, thus eliminating it. One of those S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, Jemma Simmons, disguised herself as Carter to get inside the base. However, Sousa blew her cover.[3]

HYDRA Target[]

By 1973, with foreknowledge that Carter would become a potential threat to HYDRA from a group of Chronicom Hunters, Wilfred Malick identified Carter as a target of the fast-tracked Project Insight.

However, Carter was saved by a team of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents from the future who had arrived to stop the launch. Two of these agents, Alphonso Mackenzie and Jemma Simmons, along with their Chronicom ally Enoch, were able to utilize their ship, the Zephyr One, to destroy the Project Insight satellite before it could eliminate its targets.[4]
