Why do you want these user rights? Please explain: Having been a part of the MCU Wiki for over four years, I recognise the impact that the administration of a wiki can have on its wider community. I also strongly believe that, even with the preconditions of the application process notwithstanding, I am one of very few users who has the experience and drive to successfully take on this role.
Since joining the Discussion Moderation team in May of 2023, I have been a key member assisting in the upkeep and moderation of an active discussions community. My work under the previous administration then consisted of the typical moderation tasks, as well as the creation and standardisation of spoiler discussion posts for shows and films. Throughout this period, I maintained constant communication with other staff members with consistent transparency of any actions taken, which all involved can attest to.
When the wiki was brought into a transitional period in 2024 as the administration overhaul took place I was allowed a much greater degree of freedom in regard to decisions for the future of the Discussions Area. My advice has been taken in regard to the promotion of further users into the DA staff team, as well regarding warns and blocks for other users. I rewrote and reimplemented a new set of Discussion Guidelines. I proposed the trialling of a new offtopic thread to boost community interaction, which has now gained momentum and continues monthly to great success. I also advised for the creation of a discord channel within the wiki’s server specifically to deal with DA-related issues, which has allowed for better communication between moderators and admins alike. I continue to strive for the gradual improvement of the Discussion Area with many plans in the pipeline, and am trusted by admins and other moderators to do so. Throughout all of my work I have remained a consistent presence within the community am easily accessible via both Discord and my message wall, and users have been able to approach me as necessary.
If I were to be promoted, this would ensure the vital link between the administration of the wiki and the Discussion Area continues, but remaining without the constant oversight of other admins being necessary for the smallest of decisions. As an example, currently all decisions regarding blocks must be implemented by the wiki’s admins, even as the decisions are made by the DA team. My promotion would lighten the load on the already busy admin team, while also increasing the efficiency of the DA team in dealing with these decisions. The benefits of this are already recognised by the current administration in the creation of this role, and thus I urge you to consider my application.
