Paley is a surgeon and the grandson of Archdeacon William Paley.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Paley was born to the son of Archdeacon William Paley. Paley came to understand that his grandfather was notable and a recognizable name. He went on to become a surgeon and was hired to provide his services on a ship which provided voyages to civilians.[1]

Attending Mass[]

On June 17, 1893, Paley went on a trip on a large boat. The following day, a Sunday, a preacher on the boat hosted a mass at the request of Captain Stone. Paley approached the preacher and introduced himself, noting his grandfather's role. The preacher replied that he was familiar with his grandfather's work.[1]
