Olympians are a race of gods that abide in Olympus. They were once worshipped by Ancient Greek and Roman civilizations.
History[]
Worshipped in Greece and Rome[]
In Ancient Greece and the Roman Empire, the Olympians were worshipped as gods. However, over time came to be seen just as mythological and fictional beings. This led the Olympians to live in seclusion in Omnipotence City with other gods, where Zeus ruled the Council of Godheads.[1]
An Olympian traveled to Asgard to attend a celebratory banquet after the Duel at the Rainbow Bridge.[2] The Olympian Ares went to Sakaar and fought well in the Contest of Champions, earning him a statue among the other champions.[3]
Battle of Omnipotence City[]
Several Olympians, including Zeus, Dionysus, Minerva, and Artemis, attended a meeting of the Council. Zeus started discussions on planning the Council's next orgy event, but was interrupted by the appearance of Thor, Korg, Valkyrie, and Jane Foster. Thor asked Zeus for help fighting Gorr the God Butcher, but Zeus refused, believing Gorr to not be a problem so long as the location of Omnipotence City remain secret. Thor and the others started fighting the city's guards and started winning, prompting Zeus to throw Thunderbolt at Korg, causing him to collapse into a pile of rocks. Zeus attempted to do the same to Thor, who got angry and grabbed Thunderbolt, throwing it back at Zeus and seemingly killing him.
As Zeus recovered from his injuries, he lamented to his Zeusettes about how the Olympians were not taken as seriously on Earth anymore due to the existence of superheroes, so he decided to task Hercules with killing Thor so that humans would fear the Olympians.[1]
Characteristic Traits[]
Olympians have a similar appearance to humans and Asgardians, with some being larger than others.
Like many species present in human mythology, they are technologically very advanced, such as in the case of the Golden Mace of Hercules. Even their armor uses a corrosive liquid as their energy source, although they are no match for Asgardian weapons.
