The subject of this article comes from an alternate universe connecting to the main timeline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This universe is designated as "Zombie Outbreak".

"Wakanda forever!"
―Okoye[src]

Okoye was a member of the Dora Milaje. In the aftermath of the Zombie Apocalypse, she led a small group of survivors to try and find a solution to end the plague. She was eventually infected by Wanda Maximoff shortly after being reunited with her missing King.

Biography[]

Zombie Apocalypse[]

Survivor of the Apocalypse[]

The General of the Dora Milaje, Okoye was one of the few survivors of the Zombie Apocalypse that plagued the world after the Quantum Virus was brought from the Quantum Realm. Despite the disappearance of her king T'Challa, Okoye continued the fight against the zombies with the few remaining Avengers and their allies.[1]

Glimmer of Hope[]

Okoye & Happy

Weeks later, Okoye was among the group of survivors that rescued Bruce Banner from a horde of zombies. She then informed Banner and her colleagues that she had picked up a message, which seemingly came from another group of survivors who claimed to be progressing towards an antidote for the zombie virus. Okoye thus decided to follow the source of the message to Camp Lehigh, and instructed Happy Hogan to drive the group to Grand Central Terminal.

Happy, Bucky & Sharon

Okoye and the team split up

Ignoring Spider-Man's warning about splitting the group, Okoye sent him with Kurt Goreshter, Wasp and Banner to find a train to start while she secured the station with Sharon Carter, Winter Soldier and Hogan. While Hogan was killed by Hawkeye, Okoye and the Winter Soldier were attacked by Falcon. Okoye was able to jump on Falcon's back and attempted to stop him with her Vibranium Spear, but failed. However, she was then able to slice Falcon's body in half as he attempted to kill the Winter Soldier. She then apologized to him for having killed his former friend.

Rejoining Carter, Okoye and the Winter Soldier were able to find and board the train which their colleagues had been able to start. Once they left the station, Okoye apologized to Spider-Man, acknowledging that he had been right about the risks of splitting the group. During the trip, the train was attacked by Captain America, who was able to turn Carter into a zombie. Although the pair was defeated by Winter Soldier and Wasp, the latter was infected with the virus, but Okoye refused to kill her before the infection spread out, claiming that they were close to a potential cure.

Bucky Barnes, Bruce Banner, Peter Parker, Okoye & Hope van Dyne

Okoye sees the zombies

Once the train stopped due to lack of fuel and being surrounded by zombies, Okoye was carried to Camp Lehigh by Hope along with the other survivors. There, they were reunited with Vision, who was able to keep the zombies at bay using the powers of the Mind Stone.[1]

Royal Reunion[]

"My king!"
Black Panther and Okoye[src]

Listening to Vision's explanations, Okoye learned about his success in saving Scott Lang from the virus, at the price of only saving his head. Okoye suggested that the group should go to Wakanda to further Vision's work and apply his methods to the whole world. She was then shocked when the Winter Soldier, who had left to find another means of transportation, returned with Black Panther, who had survived and been kept by Vision, who had fed his leg to the zombified Wanda Maximoff.

Enraged upon learning Vision's actions and his failure to kill Maximoff, Okoye was on the verge of attacking him with her Vibranium Spear but stopped as Maximoff had escaped from her containment cell. Okoye threw her spear at Maximoff while she was temporarily restrained by Spider-Man's webs, but her weapon was easily deflected. As the group attempted to escape, Okoye was the last one to leave the building, but she was caught by the powers of Maximoff. Reciting the Wakandan war cry one last time, Okoye was then infected by Maximoff.[1]

Personality[]

"Splitting up? Do you guys just not have horror movies in Wakanda?"
"We don't need them. We have American reality shows."
Spider-Man and Okoye[src]

A strong and capable fighter, Okoye proved herself to be able to lead the few survivors of the Zombie Apocalypse, being trusted by her colleagues to navigate through the hordes of zombies that had taken over the entire world. She was often serious and dedicated, but could sometimes joke with her teammates, for example mocking American reality TV shows. She always remained loyal to Wakanda even after the disappearance of her King, and as such she was considerably relieved upon learning that T'Challa was alive, but enraged that he had been kept prisoner by Vision. Okoye was also compassionate, expressing her condolences to Bucky Barnes after she was forced to kill his former friend Sam Wilson, and could also acknowledge her mistakes, such as when she admitted to Spider-Man that she should not have taken the decision to split the group in Grand Central Terminal.
