Nova is an upcoming American web television series, based on the Marvel Comics superhero of the same name. It will be an installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The series is produced by Marvel Television and will be released on Disney+.[3]

On May 4, 2018, Kevin Feige stated that a film based on the character Nova had "immediate potential".[4]

On June 19, 2019, Kevin Feige again stated that Nova was on a board of characters that held "immediate potential" to make a debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.[5]

On January 15, 2021, when Kevin Feige was asked if Nova would be a character with a standalone film or supporting role and if it would be the Richard Rider or Sam Alexander version of the character, he said: "Well, yes and yes."[6]

On March 24, 2022, Deadline reported that Marvel Studios was developing a project centered on Nova with Sabir Pirzada attached to write.[1]

On February 16, 2023, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the Nova project that was in development would be a television series for Disney+.[7]

On July 20, 2024, in an interview with Comicbook.com, Kevin Feige confirmed that a Nova television series was in development and revealed that it would feature the Richard Rider version of the character, with the release of the series being "three or four years out".[3]

On December 16, 2024, Deadline reported that Ed Bernero had joined the series as a writer and showrunner, replacing Sabir Pirzada.[2]

On February 20, 2025, Deadline reported that the development of the series had been paused by Marvel Studios.[8]
