"Our world is being taken by gods! We will become gods and take it back! This is the new order!"
Jakob Nystrom[src]

The Norse Paganists were a hate group based out of Oslo, Norway, led by Jakob Nystrom and his girlfriend, Petra Larsen that was obsessed with anything to do with Asgardian mythology.

History

"Their numbers are growing thanks to what happened in Greenwich and thanks to the Internet. Yay, Internet, she said sarcastically."
"Norse Paganist?"
"Obsessed with anything derived from Norse mythology, stories of Asgard."

After the events at Greenwich University, the ranks of the Norse Paganists began to swell. Utilizing an ancient manuscript, Nystrom and Larsen deciphered the legend of the Asgardian "Warrior Who Stayed" and located the first piece of the legendary Berserker Staff. The pair believed that the staff was the key to becoming the Gods of destruction and death.

KEJH's report about the Norse Paganists

Utilizing the strength-enhancing properties of the staff, the pair led their followers into rioting in Oslo, Norway, which caused twenty people to be injured, three critically. During the riot, the Norse Paganists delivered their message to the world – "We Are Gods".

The Paganists then sought out the remaining pieces of the staff by taking the second piece from Professor Elliot Randolph, secretly the legendary Asgardian "Warrior Who Stayed" who hid the staff in the first place and then beating S.H.I.E.L.D. to the final piece in Ireland.

After retrieving the final piece, Nystrom stabbed Randolph in the chest with it believing that killing a god would ensure his own godhood.

Agent Grant Ward grabbed the staff out of Randolph's chest and utilized its power to defeat Nystrom and several Paganists before handing the staff off to agent Melinda May, who defeated Larsen and the remaining Paganists.

The Staff was taken into the possession of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the survivors of the Norse Paganists were taken into custody. [1]
