- "The internship was awesome. I mean, getting to work with Dr. Connors, getting to innovate with Asha, Jeanne, even Cho. And Mr. Osborn helped me become a hero that... you know, that everyone knows and loves... mostly. But all the secrets and lies... I don't know that I can fully trust Oscorp again. Or Mr. Osborn."
- ―Peter Parker[src]
The "Norman Osborn-Mentored Spider-Man" Universe is an alternate universe where Spider-Man's growth as a superhero was influenced by his former mentor, Norman Osborn, as well as his former intership at Oscorp.
History[]
Ruled by the Manfredis[]
Crime Legacy[]
The Manfredis were an important family of mob criminals, having controlled Queens for over 120 years. One of them was Silvio Manfredi, who by 2015 was already an influential mob boss in New York City under the name of Silvermane. To cover the actions of the Manfredi Crime Family, Manfredi created the hair company Silvermane Hair Products for Men, Inc., whose Manhattan headquarters also acted as the main headquarters for the Manfredi Crime Family.[1][2]
Midtown High Conspiracy[]
Due to its ideal location in New York City, Midtown High School became the target of Silvermane, who began to ask his goons to plant explosives in the school in order to destroy it and leave the faculty with no other option than to sell him the school land.[1]
Protected by the Avengers[]
Origins[]
- "Because we're in the middle of an arms race that started way back when the Avengers first formed."
"When they defended the city from that invasion? I mean, they stepped up because we needed them." - ―Norman Osborn and Peter Parker[src]
A group of superheroes known as the Avengers were founded in 2012 during the Battle of New York in order to stop an alien invasion by the Chitauri, with the team consisting of Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye and others.[3][4]
Knowledge Superheroes[]
Over the years, the Avengers managed to accomplish many heroic acts, becoming renowned worldwide. However, their reputation as heroes eventually became damaged after an AI they created named Ultron became rogue, which resulted in the Avengers being forced to fight it. Unfortunately, during the Battle of Sokovia, many Sokovians were killed as casualties.[3]
Daredevil's Heroics[]
Crime Fighting At Hell's Kitchen[]
Matt Murdock became a vigilante in order to use his enhanced senses to protect the people of Hell's Kitchen by facing crime as Daredevil. During his heroics, he began to get noticed by many criminal bosses, such as Silvermane, as well as forming alliances with other superheroes such as Finesse.[1][4]
Spider-Man's Origins[]
Peter Parker's Middle School Years[]
Peter Parker was born and raised in New York City by Richard and Mary Parker. Eventually, his mother died, and his father was imprisoned, which resulted in the young Parker being raised by his beloved Uncle Ben and Aunt May. As he grew up, Parker became smart in science, earning the bullying of most of his classmates. However, things changed once his uncle was hospitalized and died, which resulted in most people giving him their condolences which make him feel worse.[1][5]
Interrupted First Day At Midtown High School[]
Shortly after Ben's death, Peter was accepted to the prestigious Midtown High School, with May offering to drive him to the orientation after he missed the bus. As he was preparing for his arrival, a portal opened at Midtown where Doctor Strange was fighting a symbiote. During the battle, Parker managed to taunt the beast, saving Nico Minoru, who he befriended just as Doctor Strange left, and a spider that came from the portal bit him on his neck, causing him to pass out. After he came back to his senses, Peter witnessed an explosion which resulted in he and Nico going their separate ways as they returned home. On the way there, Peter discovered he had developed superhuman abilities while saving Delmar's pet cat at Delmar's Deli-Grocery.[5][1]
Infiltration into Midtown High School[]
After having dinner with Nico Minoru and her foster mother, Peter decided to infiltrate Midtown High School with Nico to see the extent of the damage, as the Manfredi Crime Family were also infiltrating to eliminate all evidence connected to Silvermane. Eventually, they were found by the Manfredi Crime Family, forcing the duo to separate as Peter began to use his newfound abilities to escape. After that he then started testing his powers, discovering he had develop spider-like abilities. Soon after testing these powers, Peter returned home, where he called Nico Minoru, who advised him not to talk to the police. Peter agreed as he watched a poster of his idol, Captain America, deciding to use his newfound abilities to take out Silvermane's men himself.[1]
Wrestling Sensation[]
Deciding to use his newfound powers to help the defenseless, Peter began to don the persona of Spider-Man, deciding to name himself the "Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" in order to accommodate people who have arachnophobia. First, to test the full extent of his powers, Peter wore a white makeshift mask to hide his identity as he signed himself up for Trip's Tournament of Titans in order to test his newfound abilites on him opponent, Crusher Hogan. After the announcer left the "Friendly Neighborhood" out of his name, Spider-Man began fighting Hogan, eventually letting his newfound power get over his head and almost killing him if it weren't for the fact that Spider-Man managed to save Hogan from falling to his death. Those events eventually put him in conflict with Hogan as Spider-Man decided to quit wrestling and instead give up the idea of being a superhero until he understands the full extent of his powers.[2]
Learning to Crawl[]
After testing his strength on top of a building, Spider-Man managed to witness a little spider on a web, gaining the idea to replicate the silk of the spiders in order to not damage the criminals he fights with too badly. Deciding to use the money he still had left to secretly create his web shooters and web fluid, as he lied to May that he was preparing for an assignment for a home economics project. After those events, Peter wore a red mono mask to stop a criminal, but his web fluid eventually caused Spider-Man to become stuck with the criminal as well.[2]
New Normal[]
The next day, Peter Parker and Nico Minoru began attending their new school, Rockford T. Bales High School, with Parker feeling nervous since the school was more athletics-focused than Midtown had been. However, as Peter told Nico to keep a low profile, he was called out by Trip, who turned out to be the same announcer from the tournament earlier, and began to bully and threaten him. However, he was defended by Nico, who made him fight his friend Brent instead. Grateful, Peter and Nico's bond became stronger as she told him that together they would be unstoppable, to which Parker agreed.[2]
From Vigilante to Hero[]
That night, Peter upgraded his web shooters, now equipped with a couple of tubes that acted as containers where he kept his web fluid, resulting in the web no longer sticking to his mask. Deciding to patrol the city after those events, Spider-Man swung through the streets as he began to compare how his journey as a superhero was similar to his journey as a student and how he needed to learn from his mistakes in order to be better. While swinging, Spider-Man witnessed a runaway car that was about to get into an accident, and he used his web to stop the car and save the driver. After the driver asked who he was, Spider-Man publicly revealed himself to the world as "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man." Spider-Man's heroic act was witnessed by many news broadcasters, as well as Silvermane and the Manfredi Crime Family, who hired the Enforcers in order to make Spider-Man get out of their way.[2]
Spider-Man's Early Heroics[]
Defeated by the Enforcers[]
The next evening, Peter Parker suited up and began to patrol the city, taking advantage of May not being home due to her night shift. There, Spider-Man watched the Enforcers bothering a shop owner, which resulted in Spider-Man fighting them to protect the civilian. Despite Spider-Man clearly having the advantage due to his superhuman abilities, the experience of the Enforcers managed to get the best of him, as Montana managed to break one of the cables that connected to his web fluid tanks, which Ox also followed. Defeated, Spider-Man managed to fix one of his web shooters, using it to web up the Enforcers and leave the area as some civilians recorded the fight, as well as Spider-Man's departure. Spider-Man's reputation was now damaged, with everyone in the city now considering him a coward.[2][6]
Gaining an Offer[]
The next morning, Peter was watching the video of his defeat by the Enforcers as he used his abilities to avoid walking over some of his classmates, which caught the attention of Phil Grayfield, who offered him a chance to attend the football tryouts tomorrow after school. Despite initially not being sure, Grayfield would try to convince Parker by telling him that with his moves, he could secure any football college scholarship in no time.[6]
Meeting at Midtown[]
That afternoon, Peter and Nico began walking at Midtown High to attend a meeting about the recent destruction of the school, which prompted Peter to ask if it was okay for him to use an extra advantage to go to college. He wondered if that would still be considered cheating. However, Nico asked him why he was aaking that question, knowing that Peter couldn't tell her the truth in order to protect her he lied to her, saying he was thinking about writing essays about his uncle's death, with Nico telling him that it was up to him to decide whether he wants to do it or not. She added that this isn't cheating, while what Silvermane does is. After those events, Nico and Peter began to attend the meeting at Midtown.
However, the meeting was soon interrupted by the Enforcers, with Peter finding out due to a video that Nico showed him that the "robbery" at the shop owner's was a setup to ruin his reputation and that he fell for it. As everyone was running away scared, Peter asked an old man who was also trying to run what that meant for the school, with the old man revealing that with the school land now being Silvermane's main focus of interest, that means that Midtown and everyone who wants to save it are, and would be, dead.
Football Tryouts[]
Later, Peter returned home, where he was greeted by May, who got scared due to Peter's bruises. However, he managed to lie, saying it was from the football tryouts. As they were talking, Peter revealed to May his worries about the tryouts, feeling it was wrong because he was really good at it. Jokingly, May said that he reminded her of Ben and how just because he didn’t suffer to achieve something didn’t mean he didn’t deserve it. She told him how Ben and she used to believe that if the world gave him a gift, then he needed to share it with those who weren't as lucky.
The next day, Peter Parker entered the football tryouts; however, despite his superhuman abilities, due to not being an expert in the sport's rules, Peter ended up not being accepted on the football team. With Peter accepting this, he decided to stick with science.[6]
Rematch with the Enforcers[]
Later that day, Parker returned home, where May was preparing a speech for work, surprising Peter, who asked her how she managed to handle all of this. May replied that people need her help and that if she doesn't do it, then who will? Inspired by those words, Peter decided to upgrade his costume, now understanding that he has these powers to help people and defend them from guys like the Enforcers, deciding to swing back into the city to face the Enforcers one more time.[6]
