Nicholas Joseph "Nick" Fury is the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. When Thor came to Earth to host a galaxy-wide party, Fury saw this as a threat to the planet and tried to stop it only to be left unconscious by Korg.

Responding to the appearance of numerous extraterrestial beings on Earth, Nick Fury personally arrived at Las Vegas, where he saw the invaders hosting a galaxy-wide party, that was potentially dangerous. Fury went to confront Thor, however, the Einherjar did not let him approach their prince. Fury demanded Thor to get out of the planet with his partygoers, but as Thor ignored him, Fury was accidentally hit by Korg who pushed him away to dive into the fountain. Because of the hit, Fury lost his consciousness and was unable to act, so Maria Hill had to step in as an Acting Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.[2]
