"Come on. I never totally fit in with the gang, anyway."
The subject of this article is part of an MCU franchise story that has been officially deemed to be non-canonical to the primary continuity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Its events instead occur in another reality within the Multiverse. This universe is designated by the Marvel Cinematic Universe Wiki as the "Chitauri Helicarrier Attack Universe".

"Stark, it's Fury! Listen up: My team can briefly re-open the portal for a brief time. If you can get to Loki and then hurl him through the portal before it closes, that Asgardian god won't be threatening Earth for a very long time."
―Nick Fury to Iron Man[src]

Nicholas Joseph "Nick" Fury is the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. who put together the Avengers. When Loki used the Chitauri to invade New York City, Fury used his time to study the Tesseract and figure out how to close the Wormhole, which he successfully did.

Loki's Attack[]

"Tony! I'm getting reports of mercs storming the UN. I need you to get down there and check it out."
―Nick Fury to Iron Man[src]

Nick Fury was the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. who helped assemble the Avengers. One day, Loki teamed up with mercenaries and sent them to New York City to attack the United Nations. Fury contacted Iron Man to go stop them. Later on, Captain America gave Fury an update, saying that Loki had opened a portal, allowing the Chitauri to come to Earth. Therefore, Fury sent Black Widow in a Quinjet to pick them up to discuss next steps.

In the Helicarrier, Fury tried desperately to make the Tesseract close the Wormhole, but needed the Gamma Amplification Module. Rogers offered to go get it just as Chitauri entered the Helicarrier. While Rogers was gone, Fury was sneaked up on by Hawkeye, who was being controlled by Loki. Fury was no match for the turned Avenger as he was knocked out. When Fury came to, he immediately began trying to dampen the Tesseract's effects, which he succeeded in doing, freeing Hawkeye.

Fury then closed the Wormhole, but soon realized he did so prematurely as he had an idea. He radioed to Iron Man and explained how if he reopened the wormhole, then Iron Man could throw Loki into it, banishing him. Stark agreed with this idea and had Fury reopen the wormhole. Once done, Stark grabbed Loki and threw him in, ending the invasion. Fury thanked the Avengers for their efforts.[2]

Personality[]

Nick Fury was a very intense man who did not let it get in the way of his strategy. He was also a commanding man who ordered the Avengers around. Despite this, the Avengers still respected him and listened.

Abilities[]

  • Master Tactician: Fury was the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. who was very smart when it came to strategy. During Loki's attack on New York City, Fury commanded each Avenger. In the end, he had the idea to re-open the Wormhole to send Loki into it.
  • Master Engineer: Fury had enough expertise to find a way to weaken the Tesseract and even manipulate it enough to close the Wormhole.
