Wade Winston Wilson was a mercenary known as Deadpool who was banished to the Void. In the Void, Wilson went by the name Nicepool, as a way to distinguish himself from other Deadpools, and lived alongside his pet, Dogpool. Unlike most of his Variants, he did not possess any regenerative factor or superhuman powers, which led to his eventual death at the hands of his own Variants when another Deadpool used him as a shield for gunfire.
Biography[]
Banished to the Void[]
This section needs a rewrite |
At some point, Nicepool and his dog, Dogpool, were banished into the Void. Nicepool had encountered the Deadpool Corps an unknown amount of times, but knew their power and threat to their targets. He also acquired a Honda Odyssey, which he named Ol' Betsy.[1]
Meeting Deadpool and Wolverine[]
Nicepool encountered Deadpool and Wolverine in the Void at the End of Time, after the latter two were greeted by Dogpool. Nicepool apologized profusely for his dog running off, and joked that she was trying to look for a new owner. Deadpool became impressed and envious of Nicepool's dog and golden firearms. When told that Deadpool and Wolverine need transport, Nicepool offered them Ol' Betsy, which disgusted Deadpool upon the realization of the car being a Honda Odyssey. Wolverine made Deadpool get into the car and give Nicepool his dog back.[1]
Death[]
Nicepool later accompanied the Deadpool Corps to Earth-10005, where his dog Dogpool ran off. Nicepool retrieved Dogpool, who'd run over to Deadpool and Wolverine, before warning the duo about the threat posed by the Variants. During the ensuing conflict, Deadpool, believing Nicepool had a regenerative healing factor, used him as a human shield. This proved fatal for Nicepool, who lacked any mutant abilities and was simply a regular human. Sustaining multiple injuries from the Deadpool Corps, Nicepool was killed when his head was blown off. Attempts to resuscitate him failed, and Deadpool took his counterpart's guns to use in the fight against the Deadpool Corps.[1]
Legacy[]
After Nicepool's death, Deadpool inherited his Variant's guns and dog. While Deadpool romanticized Nicepool's death, Wolverine was disgusted by it. He reminded Deadpool that the death was highly unethical. Nicepool's use as a human shield was proven unnecessary when Wolverine avoided wounds by taking advantage of the Deadpool Corps' refusal to harm Mary Puppins by using her as a shield.[1]
Personality[]
Nicepool was an incredibly nice and warm-hearted mercenary, standing in stark contrast to most of his Variants. He did not have violent inclinations, nor was he rude, as depicted when he did not exhibit any signs of hostility when he encountered a Variant of himself and Wolverine in the Void. He even kindly told them how they could reach the borders and let them borrow his Honda Odyssey, reminding them to stay away from the Deadpool Corps.
Additionally, Nicepool was very confident of his handsome looks. When asked by another Deadpool why he did not wear a mask, Nicepool was visibly confused why he needed a mask. Nicepool was also extremely attached to Dogpool as he insisted that Dogpool had to stay with him when his Variant wished to adopt the dog.
However, Nicepool could not read the room and he often failed to see through others' seemingly harmless actions and uncover their malicious intentions. This naïveté is what got Nicepool murdered eventually, as he could not notice that when he met the alternate Deadpool in the Void, the other Deadpool wanted him dead so that he could get his treasured golden pair of pistols and ownership of his dog.
