The Iron Gauntlet is a piece of technology created by Tony Stark, designed to safely store and allow the user to channel the powers of the six Infinity Stones.

History

Reversal of the Decimation

After the remaining Avengers gather all six Infinity Stones from their respective "Time Heists", Tony Stark would insert each of the Stones into the Gauntlet. Rocket Raccoon recalled that the use of all six stones at once almost killed Thanos, and as such the Avengers debate over who should wield the gauntlet. Thor would first offer to equip the device as he was 'the strongest Avenger', however he was stopped by Tony Stark. Bruce Banner steps up, as he explains that the Gamma Radiation within him might be able to help withstand the ramifications of the simultaneous use of the Stones. As the Gauntlet reshaped itself to fit the Hulk's hand, the Avengers would deploy defenses to withstand any potential explosion caused by the Stones' power, with Ant-Man and War Machine equipping their helmets, Iron Man creating a holographic shield in front of himself and Hawkeye, and Rocket Raccoon putting on his goggles as Thor stood in front of him. As one final defense, F.R.I.D.A.Y. would lock down the entire New Avengers Facility as the Hulk equipped the Gauntlet. The six Stones' power would surge through the Hulk's arm as he struggled to put his finger and thumb together, eventually succeeding in snapping his fingers and undoing the Decimation, at the cost of his right arm being severely charred from the Stones' power.

Battle of Earth

After Thanos destroyed the Avengers' facility, the Iron Gauntlet had been recovered by Nebula from Hawkeye only for the former to be killed by her future self and Gamora. As the battle waged, the Iron Gauntlet was passed from hero to hero, including Hawkeye, Spider-Man and eventually Captain Marvel. However, Thanos had eventually retrieved the Gauntlet and had attempted to keep it equipped in order to perform the Decimation, and had succeeded despite Captain America, Thor, Iron Man and Captain Marvel's efforts. Snapping his fingers expecting the Decimation to reoccur, he suddenly realizes that the Infinity Stones were stripped from the Gauntlet and onto Tony Stark's own armor, who proceeds to use the Stones to decimate Thanos and his forces. The Iron Gauntlet is erased along with Thanos himself, as he still had it equipped on his arm.

Capabilities

Like the Infinity Gauntlet, the Iron Gauntlet is capable of channeling the power of all the Infinity Stones at once, granting whomever wields it near-omnipotence. However, while the Iron Gauntlet was made of extremely resilient nanotechnology, much like Tony Stark's suit, it did not possess the more advanced durability of its Dwarven predecessor. As such, simply attempting to wield the Stones simultaneously would cause their collective energies to leak from the Gauntlet and begin to severely wound the user, as was the case with Hulk and Iron Man.

Due to the Iron Gauntlet's nanotechnology, the Iron Gauntlet can shift its nanites around and morph itself to accommodate users of different arm sizes. The Iron Gauntlet's nanites can also be transferred into different Iron Man armors made of nanotechnology. Iron Man used this to transfer the nanites containing the Infinity Stones into his armor, therefore merging its nanites with his suit and safely transferring the Stones between them.
