Najaf owned a food truck named The Gyro King he used to drive across Jersey City to serve different meals, including gyros. Among his most regular customers were Kamala Khan[2] and Bruno Carrelli.[3] As Khan and her mother were out for shopping in prevision for her brother's wedding, Najaf complained about rich businessmen purchasing real estate in his neighborhood, and when Khan suggested that they would get a Halal Guys restaurant, Najaf retorted that it would never be as customer-friendly as his own food truck.[2]

Najaf took his food truck The Gyro King to the Islamic Masjid of Jersey City as they celebrated Eid Al-Adha. He was approached by Nakia Bahadir, who was campaigning to be appointed as the new mosque's board member, and promised that he would vote for her in exchange for her promise that he would be the only one allowed to cater food at the mosque's events. As Bahadir agreed, Najaf put up a poster with her picture on his truck.
Later, Najaf was still there when Hameed nearly fell from the mosque's minaret. He watched in complete amazement as Night Light arrived to save the young boy and cheered when Hameed landed on a hard light platform, thus avoiding a fatal fall.[3]
Battle at Coles Academic High School[]

As he was cleaning his food truck, Najaf was alerted by Zoe Zimmer's social media feed that she and her friends were threatened by Damage Control at Coles Academic High School. Najaf thus went to the school and joined in the worried crowd as they could not approach the building due to the Jersey City Police Department stopping them. Najaf then watched as Kamran and Ms. Marvel were attacked by Damage Control. He was nearly hit by a car accidentally thrown by Kamran, but he was saved by Ms. Marvel who used her powers to catch the car, causing Najaf to thank her and cheer. Once Ms. Marvel helped Kamran escape, Najaf went with the crowd to shield her from Damage Control, insisting to Barrie that she had saved their lives, buying enough time for Ms. Marvel to flee from the scene.
In the aftermath of the battle, Najaf posted a video on social media where he expressed his admiration for Ms. Marvel's feats and claimed that she considered his gyros to be the best in all Jersey City.[4]

Najaf is very dedicated to his business, driving his food truck across Jersey City and having acquired regular customers such as Kamala Khan, and has little consideration for competitors, especially fast-food chains like The Halal Guys. As such, he bargained with Nakia Bahadir to have her promise he would be the sole caterer for the Islamic Masjid of Jersey City if he voted for her as the new mosque's board member. Najaf also jokingly turned the events of the Battle at Coles Academic High School into a publicity stunt, claiming that Ms. Marvel thought his gyros were the best in the whole city.
