Quentin Beck was a former employee at Stark Industries who, following the Emergence that destroyed Earth, took leadership over the company, adopted the name Mysterio, founded the Iron Federation and, with the aid of his holographic technology, gained dictatorship over the remnants of the planet. For several years, he had been in conflict against people who rebelled against him, such as the Alliance, and during the time, he had augmented nanites into his body to become a cyborg with full control over his inventions. Mysterio was soon challenged by the synthezoid-human hybrid Ironheart, but when he was on the brink of victory, Ironheart absorbed all his nanites, killing Mysterio and ending his influence over Earth.
