- "This Wolverine let down his entire world."
- ―Mr. Paradox to Deadpool[src]
The "Mutant Genocide" Universe is a universe where the X-Men and several mutants were massacred, leading Wolverine to go on a violent rampage.
History[]
Murder of the X-Men[]
- "Scott used to beg me to wear it. So did Jean, Storm, Beast... All of them. They wanted me to be part of the team, but I wouldn't. Told them they all looked fuckin' ridiculous. I mean, I couldn't have 'em thinking I wanted to be there. And then one day while I was off on my own, the humans came. They went mutant hunting."
- ―Logan[src]
The superhero team known as the X-Men was formed by Charles Xavier and was comprised of mutants such as Logan, Jean Grey, Scott Summers, and Hank McCoy. Despite protecting humanity and mutant-kind from threats, the X-Men were widely hated by humans who feared their extraordinary abilties. One day while Logan was off drinking at a bar, humans consumed by their fear and hatred launched an attack on the X-Mansion, massacring the X-Men.
When Logan returned to the mansion and found his friends had been murdered, he blamed himself for their deaths and went on a murderous rampage, killing anyone he could find who partook in the slaughter of his teammates. This also included benevolent humans. By the time Logan had calmed down, the X-Men name had been tarnished and Logan had become an outcast in society, leading to a state of depression. He drank frequently and wore his suit underneath his civilian clothes everywhere he went, as a reminder of his friends and what had happened.[1]
Logan's Recruitment[]
- "Why would I go with you?"
"...Because, unfortunately, I need you. And even more unfortunately, my entire world needs you." - ―Logan and Deadpool[src]
At a bar's counter, Logan asked for another drink but was told by the bartender to leave as he would never be welcome anywhere. Logan was then approached by Deadpool, who needed a replacement Anchor Being for his universe as the original anchor being had died. The bartender insulted the two, but Logan did not react, which Deadpool noted along with the fact that Logan had not attempted to attack him like his previous targets.
Logan attempted to brush Deadpool off which resulted in the latter attempting to carry him away. Logan tried to unsheath his adamantium claws, but they had become very small. Seeing Logan's attempt to put up a fight, Deadpool put a gun to the former X-Man's head and demanded he come with him. Logan laughed at the threat and chugged a bottle of beer, collapsing drunkenly on the floor before being taken from this universe to the Time Variance Authority Office. Logan never returned to his home universe and instead elected to stay in Deadpool's once they had finished their mission.[1]
