Morocco, officially the Kingdom of Morocco, is a country in the Maghreb region of North Africa.

History

Chasing Ian Quinn

S.H.I.E.L.D. agent John Garrett and his team were sent to investigate and apprehend Ian Quinn since the incidents in Malta. They followed Quinn to Berlin, Germany, and later to Morocco, losing three agents during the mission.[1]

Escaped Prisoners

When Skye and Eric Koenig were monitoring cases around the world to see if they were connected to the escapees of the Fridge, they notice that one of them happened in Rabat. According to the report, Professor L. Tompkins was shot by a man that witnesses say appeared out of nowhere and disappeared after unsuccessfully shooting Tompkins.[2]

Donnie Gill

"Marrakech has a long history of giving shelter to travelers hiding from the past."
Elias[src]

During the S.H.I.E.L.D. Civil War HYDRA brainwashed Donnie Gill into working for them. With his help they took the Sandbox. After the taking of the Sandbox Donnie Gill managed to break free of his brainwashing and fled with HYDRA and eventually S.H.I.E.L.D. on his tail. He eventually ended up in Marrakech.

While being at a cafe in Marrakech Donnie Gill fixed the radio of the cafe owner, Elias, when he discovered that he had betrayed his location to HYDRA. Gill then froze the cafe owner. When two HYDRA agents then approached Gill, he froze the lead agent. He stole his phone before fleeing and causing Elias' frozen body to fall and shatter. On this phone he read that there was a HYDRA freighter in the Casablanca Harbor.

Donnie Gill then moved to Casablanca, where he froze the area around the ship, rendering it immobile. This alerted both S.H.I.E.L.D. and HYDRA of his presence and they both raced to the scene. HYDRA brought Jemma Simmons with them to keep Gill calm. Sunil Bakshi gave Simmons an earpiece so she could repeat what he told her. Meanwhile, S.H.I.E.L.D. learned that Gill had been brainwashed so Director Coulson ordered his agents not to allow HYDRA to communicate with him. Lance Hunter would have shot Simmons, Coulson's mole in HYDRA, if not for Melinda May's interference.

Donnie Gill Ocean

Donnie's body freezing into the bottom of the ocean.

On the freighter Simmons tried to trigger Donnie Gill's brainwashing. She failed and fled to the HYDRA team led by Sunil Bakshi who successfully activated Donnie's trigger allowing HYDRA to take control of him. Gill was then ordered to cover HYDRA's escape and stop the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. Gill began to freeze the ship but was then shot by Skye with a sniper rifle and fell into the ocean. His body began to freeze itself as it fell deeper into the abyss.

Bakshi and Simmons left Casablanca empty-handed, but S.H.I.E.L.D. confiscated all of the cargo on the freighter with the HYDRA insignia. Thus far, the Moroccan Law Officials have yet to find Gill's body.[3]
